Thanks a Melon

We are about to move into February (how did that happen?) so I thought I'd do one last January post. We had the twins all day and it rained, so they ran all over the house today since they couldn't be outside. We did get them out for a short time before we took them home. They stomped through our leftover snow piles in their boots before they climbed into our car. LOL!  So this evening I thought I would clean off my desk a little and ran into two watermelon images. I have no idea where they came from but I thought I'd make a couple quick thank you cards for Teacher's Warehouse.

The background paper is left over from my son's birthday card which featured pizza (think Italian pizzeria tablecloth) but I thought it might be a picnic blanket too. The images are leftover from something. I did print the sentiments off. Thanks to Create with TLC for the free sentiment. I die cut the sentiments with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares. I found 2 gallon Ziploc bags with ribbon pieces in so I used two pieces of ribbon from that stash. In the "O" in melon I did a little doodling to make it look like a watermelon with seeds. They were quick and easy cards. I am entering these challenges:
Well, this will be another busy week. If the weather doesn't close schools tomorrow I'll go work at Opportunity House in the morning. If the schools close for weather so does OH. Tuesday morning I have another eye appointment at a different eye doctor. Apparently a membrane has grown over the lens in my right eye after my cataract surgery so they will remove the membrane on Tuesday morning. So we'll have to see how the week progresses to see if I get crafting time. I'll leave you with a couple pictures of the twins and a little Valerie story.

Arthur got the marble run as a Christmas gift from Uncle Steve and Aunt Anne and he's been enamored ever since. So you can usually find him with the marble run most of the day when he visits us. Valerie, on the other hand, likes variety, so she flits from one thing to another. Today she was into ice cube molds that we have. She lined them all up, counted them, and told me the colors, and then she said, "All our friends are here!" LOL! She is such a gem. So here's to a new week, a new month, and all the best it can bring. Stay safe and healthy. God bless!

Special Friend

Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend. Where did this week go? And Oh my, January is almost gone too. Time certainly is flying by! Tonight I have a special card for a special friend who has had a very difficult time for the past year. Her husband has been in and out of the hospital with a number of medical problems and because Of Covid restrictions she hasn't been able to visit him there. She spent Christmas without him. Recently she fell and injured her leg. She's using a walker to get around. So I wanted to send her something to cheer her up, I hope.

I cross-stitched the little square message with the flowers as a keepsake to let her know that my thoughts and prayers are with her and her DH. I cut the front out of the card using Spellbinders Classic Squares Large. It's not quite square as I cut a little more out in one direction with the same die. I adhered the cross stitch material to the front of the card and then added a backing so that you wouldn't be able to see the back of the stitches on the inside of the card. I used a new to me stamp set from Simon Says Stamps called Beautiful Butterflies and the matching dies. I stamped 3 butterflies with Versa Fine Onyx Black ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers, then die cut them with the matching dies. I stamped the "long distance hugs" circle stamp on the front and added the butterflies. I need to finish the inside off before I send it off tomorrow. Hope you like it as much as I do!
I am entering these challenges:
We still have snow on the ground but tomorrow and Sunday we have rain predicted so we may not get a chance to have the twins build another snowman on Sunday when they are here all day. We'll have to find something else for them to do. Arthur is still very into the marble run that he got for Christmas and he plays with that a lot when he's here. Maybe we'll have to get the sand out this weekend. We've gotten some new cookie cutters they haven't played with yet. I certainly hope your week has been a good one. Enjoy a relaxing weekend. My weekends tend to be busier than my weeks and I'm usually glad to see Monday roll around. LOL! Please stay safe and God bless.

Sew Grateful

We are walking in a winter wonderland with our first major snow storm of the year. Tom shoveled 4 inches of "partly cloudy" last night. LOL! But it very pretty. Normally about this time of year we are in Florida to get away from the winter weather. Not this year though. With the weather this morning the schools went online rather than run buses, so that meant Opportunity House was closed. But we did volunteer at teacher's Warehouse this afternoon. This evening I did sit down at my desk for a bit.

The image is from Pattie's Creations. It's the freebie of the month at the Pattie's Creation's challenge blog. I colored it with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut the image. I have a pin cushion that looks exactly like this little tomato. LOL! The plaid paper is from my scrap plaid paper stash and I used Gina Marie Designs  Stitched Diamonds to die cut the triangle shape. The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps stamp set (no longer in business). I die cut the sentiment with Gina Marie Designs Wonky Stitched Ovals. I am entering these challenges:
Tomorrow Tom and I have an eye doctor appointment. They will likely dilate my eyes so I may not be able to see well for a while. Hopefully I'll get some time to play tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by. The weekend approaches. Hope it's super creative for you. Take care and God bless!

There's Gnome One Like You

For my second card today I have a birthday card. I love gnomes and I'm trying to collect a few more stamps so I have some go to ideas for gnome cards.

These cute little gnomes are from Pattie's Creations called Party Gnomes. I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers using colors from the background designer paper. I added the DP to a black card base ages ago and it's been sitting on my desk. So trying to clean up my desk this week and using up things that have been laying around. Last week I organized some scraps and found this black frame. So I used it frame my gnomes. The sentiment is computer-generated. The inside just says Happy Birthday! I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me tonight. I have a zoom meeting in about an hour. We had several inches of snow this afternoon. Our first major snowfall so far this winter. It's just gorgeous outside! Stay safe and God bless!

Oh Deer

Happy hump day! Spent this morning at Opportunity House. Tom was working on the cable for the new card reader for the check out system and I was working on sorting greeting cards. Tomorrow we'll go back and I'll need to go through office supplies and crafts. Had time to finish up one more card.

A non-traditional color Christmas card today. The image is from Eureka Stamps called Jumping Reindeer. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut with Gina Marie Designs Triangle Edge Squares. I inked clouds on the die cut and the white card stock with the sentiment on it using Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks, a scalloped circle, and my ink brush. The sentiment is from Beccy's Place Dasher and Dancer stamp set.  I used a fun plaid paper from my scrap box on a light blue card stick base. I added some Ruby Stickles to his nose and the harness. Really like how this one turned out! I am entering these challenges:

This afternoon I have to sort through a box of greeting cards that I brought home this morning. Dinner is in the crockpot so I hope to get some crafty time. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and God bless!

You Make a Difference

This morning started off foggy and cold (lots of rain yesterday). This afternoon the wind picked up which makes it feel even colder. We helped pick up some furniture from a bank branch that is closing and took it to Teacher's Warehouse. Teachers from a 5 county are can come to the warehouse and pick up all kinds of things for their classroom for free. It's an amazing place and I wish that we would have had something like that when I was teaching in a classroom. Wow, the money I would have saved. This afternoon I did a lot of cooking. Not only made dinner but a batch of Chia Seed Jam and prepped vegetables for later in the week. And after that I sat down to craft. Yeah!

This card was made in response to some friends who are doing a Stamping Sisters Mini Winter Camp. Barb was the hostess for Day 1 so I tried out her tutorial using scraps. Who doesn't like to get rid of some of those?

Barb's tutorial showed how to make a background using different colors and widths of scraps. It's lots of fun. I first cut my scraps in three different widths. I covered the entire front og=f the card with double sided tape. I started laying the strips diagonally from the middle. After I got to most of the middle covered I decided to change directions and just filled in the side with whatever scrap I wanted so there isn't any symmetry to it. After I finished the background and cut off the extra paper hanging over the edges, I die cut three of the word "You" and glued them together for some dimension. The die I used was MFT You Trio die. The sentiment that goes with the die is from MFT All About You stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and die cut it with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips (retired). I am going to add this to my stack of Thank You cards that are going to Teachers Warehouse. The teachers are given 5 free thank you notes when they come to shop and asked to do some "homework" by sending the thank you's to 5 volunteers or donors. So we are always in need of thank you notes. I am entering these challenges:

Tomorrow we are back at Opportunity House to finish up some wiring that Tom is doing to help them install a card reader. Up until now we've been cash or check only so this will be a big change for us. Hopefully it will help make more money as we support a preschool. Well, thanks for stopping by. Hope your week is going well. Stay safe and God bless!

XOXO

Happy new week! I hope your week is off to a great start. We have a lot going on this week. Both of our volunteer jobs have asked us to do extra this week. This morning we went to Opportunity House and tomorrow we are at Teacher's Warehouse. Usually we have nothing on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. When I got home around lunchtime I did some household jobs and finally got some time to play after dinner. Here you go!

So my Valentine card uses Beccy's Place Wild About You digital stamp set. I love this set. I colored the adorable hippo with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut it with Gina Marie Designs Wonky Stitched Oval die. The background papers are from my stash that I got from Teacher's Warehouse. The three candy hearts are also from the Wild About You stamp set. I tried to pick up the colors from the banners on the white background paper. All layering is done with black cardstock. The ribbon is from my ribbon stash. It's difficult to see but it's pink ribbon with a silver thread running through. I am entering these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today. Please stay safe out there. God bless!

Let's Celebrate

Happy Sunday night! Are you watching football? We don't have TV so I usually don't get to watch football. But I like to keep tabs on the scores. This morning we had freezing rain, so we couldn't go pick up the twins at our usual time. So it was after lunch before it warmed up enough for the streets to clear. So we had the kids for dinner instead of lunch. Now we are watching "Fiddler on the Roof" on NetFlix. But I did get a card done yesterday that I didn't get posted.

I made the background using Gina Marie Designs Fireworks Stencil. Using a number of different distress oxide colors. The die cut Balloon Bouquet is from Simon Says Stamps. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Hero Arts It's Your Day. The Let's Celebrate sentiment is from Simon Says CZ Designs  Sentiment Strips Reverse Birthday I am entering these challenges:
The kids were fun today. My DH fixes electronic toys for Opportunity House and when he brings them home to work on the twins get to play with them. So we had 3 new boxes of toys for them today. They had a blast  rummaging through the three boxes of toys and trying them all out. Well, that's it for me today. We have a busy week ahead so hopefully I will get some time to craft in there somewhere. Stay safe and God bless!

Some Bunny Loves You

Wow! We have sunshine for a change today. And it makes me smile. Winter days can be so gloomy but when you see the sun it makes all the difference in your attitude. I had a few things to do today but found time this afternoon to make this Valentine for my granddaughter, Valerie.

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps in their Valentine Circle Set. There are tons of fun images in this set. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Markers and die cut it with MFT Stitched Circles, then ink distressed the edges of the circle with Shaded Lilac distress ink. The background paper and the streamers are from my Valentine stash. The layers are black card stock. To finish off I added some holographic heart stickers to the image and the streamers. I am entering these challenges:
I am continuing to organize my craft things. I've decided to put what few stickers I have with my designer paper for the same theme. So today I added my Valentine stickers into my Valentine paper folder. I'll transfer the others over tonight and then I have one less expandable folder to deal with. Hope you had a great day today. Take care and please stay safe. God bless!

Pear-fection

Happy Thursday! I am a little less stressed after the inauguration yesterday. I feel like I can breathe again and that the future is looking a bit brighter. I know we have a long way to go but I feel hopeful for the future. So I started a card yesterday but I just couldn't get it the way I wanted it so I set it aside and finished it tonight.

The image is called Fall Pear-fection from Jan's Digital Stamp Shop. I broke out my Prismacolor Pencils to color the image and die cut with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Rectangles (retired). The sentiment is from Stampabilities Card Phrases. I backed the layers with black card stock. The dotted paper is from my stash and not sure of the manufacturer. The ivory paper is from Basic Grey papers. I am entering these challenges:
Today was our volunteer day so I'm wiped out tonight. Last night while we were watching a movie I organized a bunch of die cuts and images that I found in my craft closet when I cleaned it out last week. So now that I have those organized maybe I'll remember to use them. Last year my goal was to use up stuff I had lying around and I did use a bunch but I have several years worth of scraps so one of my goals this year is again to reduce the amount of scraps that I have. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope all is well with you. Stay safe! God bless!

Thinking of You

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week has gotten off to a great start. Yesterday I spent a good part of the day catching up with pricing for Opportunity House. I was a bit behind. But I am almost caught up until I go back to the store on Thursday. I am sure there will be more bins waiting for me. LOL! But today I got a little time in between house work to make a card.

This card features 3 tea cup images from Bugaboo Stamps: Teacup Flowers 2Teacup Flowers 1, and Violet Teacup. Each image is colored with American Craft Markers and die cut with MFT Stitched Circles. I used blue card stock for my base. The first layer is dotted vellum. The flower designer paper is distressed. I haven't had that tool out in a while so thought I would use that for a change. The sentiment is from Simon Says Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. I fussy cut the sentiment and backed it with black card stock. I am entering these challenges:

Catch the Bug challenge: bingo (distress, Bugaboo image, die/punch)

Scribbles Designs challenge: The Power of Eight (Scribbles 8th Birthday!) use 8 things on your card: card base, dotted vellum paper, flowered paper, 3 teacup images, sentiment and black layer

Incy Wincy Designs: anything goes

Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge: anything goes

Blogger has not been cooperative tonight so this post has taken me "forevah". And I have no idea how it's going to actually look when it goes up. I'll apologize now. That's it for me tonight. Thank you for stopping by. Please stay safe and God bless!

You Make a Difference

I got a few things done this weekend. Saturday I cleaned out my craft closet. It's always nice to have that straightened up as I usually just shove things in when company comes. So I know where everything is right now.  Tonight I sat down to make a few more thank you cards for Teacher's Warehouse. I have  stack of these brown backgrounds. Some have flowers on but the two I used tonight had no flowers.

The pink frame was die cut from scrap pink paper using MFT Single Stitch Rectangle Frames (retired). The brown rectangle is die cut with Bright Rosa Die Cutting Essentials #62 With Love. The "You" was die cut with MFT You Trio. The sentiment under it is from MFT All About You stamp set. I punched a small heart with a punch that I got at my thrift shop. And to finish off I added some flower stickers.
Today we had the twins. It snowed overnight so we put their boots on, dressed them warm and pulled them on sled around the yard. We built a snowman in our front yard, but he was very sad looking.

Here's the twins with our snowman and I ll dressed up in their winter finery. LOL! Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your week gets off to a great start. Stay safe and God bless!

Birthday Bash Day 7: Color Challenge

Color challenges are my least favorite challenge to do but I am getting more used to them. If you want to complete the Bugaboo week-long challenge, they always include a color challenge. So the Day 7 (and final day) of the challenge is a color challenge.

This card is for my son's birthday, rapidly approaching in about 2 weeks. The image, called For Fox Sake, is the Friday freebie this week. You can find it on the Day 7 challenge blog post. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and died cut the image with Spellbinder's Classic Scalloped Circles. The backing is a dark green card stock die cut with MFT Stitched Circles. The sentiment with the image is also part of the Bugaboo freebie. My secondary sentiment was computer-generated and die cut with Impression Obsession Mini Rectangle Tags 2. I added 3 dots in the upper right corner. I am entering these challenges:
We had a few snow flurries this afternoon but nothing to really get excited about. I'd like to see some snow. I love to watch it fall and to walk in it after it quits to listen to the quiet that snow always seems to bring. Since we aren't traveling this year, it would be my luck that we don't have any snow. Tomorrow we have dinner with friends and Sunday we have the twins to come and play. I'll see you all again soon. Thanks for stopping by. Have a super awesome weekend! Stay safe and healthy. God bless!

Birthday Bash Day 6: Photo Inspiration

Can you believe the week is almost done? My weeks speed by. Didn't we just have Christmas and suddenly we are in the middle of January. Wow! My goal for today is to finish off all the challenges at Bugaboo's Birthday Bash. I am up to Day 6 and the challenge is a photo inspiration.

My card is rather simple but I like it a lot!

My image is from Bugaboo Stamps called Critter Balloons Monkey. I colored him with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut the image leaving just a little bit of a white edge to it. I die cut a Gina Marie Designs Bunting Banner die and attached it to my card with liquid glue. I used MFT Captions Alphabet  to die cut the letters for "happy" and then stamped "birthday" at the bottom of the card using MFT Latte pigment ink and Hero Arts It's Your Day stamp set. My cute little monkey is popped up off the card with foam tape. My background paper I believe is from the Paper Studio. I am entering these challenges:
I am heading back to my desk to try to get the last card done for the Bugaboo challenge. The weekend is upon us once again and my weekends always seem to be busier than my weeks. So my motto today is "Git 'er done!" LOL! Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe (the CDC is predicting a huge amount of deaths from the virus in the next 3 weeks) and God bless!

Birthday Bash Day 5: Make Us Laugh

Happy Thursday! It's been a busy day. Lots of fun things going on at our volunteer jobs. It's amazing what kinds of things come into Opportunity House. Since I price office supplies and crafts I find lots of fun things to use in my paper crafting. There is always something new. So Bugaboo Day 5's challenge is to make us laugh. My card today is simple but I love the sentiment.

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps called Chubby Cheese. I wasn't able to find it the image on the Bugaboo site so it may be retired. That's the name I have for the image in my files. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut it with Gina Maire Designs Wonky Stitched Circles. The backing pink card stock was cut with the same dies. The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I used a light gray card stock for the base and a silver gel pen to create a stitched frame. I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me tonight. It's been a long day. Thanks for stopping by to check out today's project. Please stay safe and God bless!

Birthday Bash Day 4: Bingo

The Day 4 challenge at the Bugaboo Birthday Bash is a bingo board:

The image was a flash freebie yesterday from Bugaboo called Birthday Hedgie 01. I combined the hedgie with another Bugaboo image, Dollar Spring Bird. I used my photo editor to turn the bird around and add him in the same frame as the hedgie. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers. The sentiment is from Digi Doodle Studio.  I die cut the image and sentiment with TODO Basic Rectangles. I embossed MFT Stitched Squares around the image. I love the festive background paper that's from my stash. I am entering these challenges:
Tomorrow is our volunteer day but hopefully I'll get some time to play in the evening. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and God bless!

Donna

Birthday Bash Day 3: Anything But a Card

Today I have my project for Day 3 of the Bugaboo Birthday Bash. The challenge for Day 3 is anything but a card. So I created a box that I can add a small gift for someone's birthday.

The box was created with Spellbinders Square Bracket Edge Box die. I originally got this die to use as favor boxes for my daughter's wedding. I die cut and embossed the box and then die cut and embossed the flower designer paper and fussy cut the embossed side sections. The image for the top is Bugaboo  Hummingbird Block. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut it. The sentiment, from Desert Diva,  was added to the block. I am entering these challenges:
Stay tuned for Day 4 coming up! Hope you had an amazing day. Stay safe and God bless!

Birthday Bash Day 2

This is my second post of the day. I was able to finish the sketch challenge for the Bugaboo Birthday Bash this evening. If you would like to see my first card you can scroll down or click here

This was a fun and fairly easy sketch to play with. I used the Bugaboo image called Turtles - Birthday. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut with MFT Inside and Out Stitched  Rounded Squares. I used white gel pen on the balloons. The layering and cross pieces are black card stock. My sentiment is from my stash and I can't seem to find the file again to give credit (ugh!) and die cut with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentence Strips (retired). I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me today. I have a busy day tomorrow. Tom has a heart doctor appointment early in the morning. I was elected secretary for the Board at Opportunity House and I have my first board meeting as secretary in the early afternoon. And I have a Zoom yoga class tomorrow evening. Never a dull moment around here. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and God bless!

Bugaboo Birthday Bash

Happy Birthday Bugaboo Stamps. This week is their 11th annual Birthday Bash, filled with challenges, fun and freebies. Check it out. I love to play with Bug images. So the theme this year is woodland creatures. It started last Saturday so I am already behind but I do hope to catch up this week.

Day 1's challenge is to create a birthday project using woodland creatures.

I chose Frame It - Bears birthday image from Bugaboo Stamps. The image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and then fussy cut. To color the image I tried to use the colors in the background paper from my stash. The banner at the top is die cut from MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags (retired). The sentiment is from Pictures by Mandy but I could no longer find the website. I fussy cut the sentiment circle. I used Simon Says Stamps Balloon Bouquet to die cut the two balloons on either side of the sentiment. The backing layers are black card stock. I am entering these challenges:
I did a few hours of volunteer work this morning. It's cold here so I was happy to come home and sit near our wood-burning stove. I am hoping to get another card done for the birthday bash so stay tuned for that. Hope your day is going well. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and God bless!

More Thank You Cards

I hope your weekend has been wonderful! Mine has been very busy. We had friends for dinner and cards on Saturday and I spent most of the day cooking and cleaning. Today we had the twins all day. After dinner I had a chance to work on some cards. One of the volunteer jobs that I work at needs Thank you cards so I found a bunch of these Simon Says Stacked Hearts that I already had die cut so I am using up things from my stash to hopefully help them with their thank you card needs.

I used the die cuts from Simon Says Stacked Hearts and glued them to the fronts of the cards. I then used the die cut hearts from many die cuttings to glue some hearts back into the stacked hearts. I added the sentiment stamp "Thanks" to each of the cards. The cards are simple but they really donlt want or need anything fancy and over the top. I am entering these challenges:
I hope to get some time to craft tomorrow and be back to show you a new project. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I hope your week gets off to a great start. Stay safe and God bless!

Panda Love

Happy Thursday! After volunteering today I had some time after dinner to make a card. I'm trying to get some of my progressive challenges done a little earlier this month rather than rushing at the end of the month. So today I have the Imagine That! Digis by Kris progressive challenge.

The Imagine That digital set is called Panda Love Drops. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and then die cut it with Gina Marie Designs Stitched Wonky Circles. I used Crystalline drops on the intersections of the stitching. The designer paper that I used was also from the Panda Love Drops stamp set. For the hearts that I used as embellishment, I die cut them from Simon Says Stacked Hearts die. Here is the inside of the card using the sentiments from the stamp set.
I used more hearts from the Simon Says die and a black card stock matt.
I am entering these challenges:
It's been a good day. I hope your day has been too. Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow starts the weekend. My weekends are always busier than my weekdays. Stay safe and God bless!

Thanks Fur Spoiling Me

This is the last of my Christmas Thank you cards. I will hand deliver this card tomorrow to a friend so I popped a lot of things up with foam tape.

The images are from Stamptember promotion at Simon Says Stamps along with a collaboration with Newton's Nook called Pocket Full of Happy. Unfortunately when the Stamptember stamps sell out they are usually gone for good. It's such an adorable stamp set with matching dies that I used to die cut the images. The cute images are colored with Spectrum Noir markers. The sentiment is from the same set and die cut with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitched Rectangles (retired). All the elements are popped up with foam tape. The semi-circle is die cut with Spellbinder's Classic Scalloped Circles. I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me today. No more time to craft. Tomorrow we are back to both of our volunteering jobs so we'll be gone most of the day. Hope you are staying safe and healthy. God bless!
