Just Poppin' In

Just wanted to let you know that may blogging will be a little erratic this week. I have a really busy week this week mostly at work. I have a conference for work and have to travel so there won;t be much crafting time this week. My son, Steve will be starting his spring break this weekend so I'll get to spend some time with him next week. Looking forward to that. I will be posting things for my design teams and I do have a very special post on Thursday that you won;t want to miss. Please be sure to stop back then. Hope you have a lovely week. Take care!

What's in your Scrap Box?

Greetings! And welcome to another Delightful Challenge. This week we are looking to use up some scraps! I know I am always thrilled to use up some bits and pieces of paper that I've stashed away hoping for the right project!

I did use a new sheet of paper for my card blank but all my other paper was from my scrap box. My images are from Digital Delights by Louby Loo: Billy with Rocket #2 and BlasT Off Accessories set. I punched the star from a scrap piece of paper and embellished the star, the rocket and the ring around the planet with Stickles.

The prize this week is from Paper Romance.  You could win a $5 gift certificate. And just think how easy it would be to use up soem of those scraps!

Check out all the great projects form the design team this week at Delightful Challenges. I am sure you will be inspired by the gorgeous creations from our team. Don't forget about the Spring Sale at Digital Delights. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

Joan's Garden Challenge

I am down to the wire once again. This week Joan's challenge has four requirements:
  1. Use designer paper for the background
  2. Sentiment only with a frame
  3. As many embellishments as you want
  4. Some kind of dimension
The sentiment is from Just Rite Cling Elizabeth Dulemba's Quiet Moments. The background paper is from Webster's Pages. I used two different Spellbinders: Inverted Circles and Dahlia. The flower is cut from the Dahlia Spellbinder also. I add gold pearls around the sentiment and alos as the center of the flower.
Thanks for stopping by today. Please keep Joan in your thoughts and prayers. Her mother passed away earlier this week. I know the good Lord is holding her right now. God bless you Joan! Big hugs!

Open the Gate

Welcome to The Cuttlebug Spot challenge for this week. This week we are opening the gates with a gate fold card. Play along with us this week and try your own gate fold card.

My gate fold card uses a DeeDee digital stamp. The shamrock's are pop-dotted for some dimension. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the "gates" and the Graces frame embossing folder to make the frame. I wanted to give it a little different look so I used a scallop punch along the edges of the gates.

Here's the inside of the card. You might be able to see the scallops a little better on the edges. Be sure to check out the rest of the design team projects. They will be inspirational to you all. Then play along with us and open the gates at The Cuttlebug Spot. Thanks for stopping in today!

A Special Creation

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I hope you and your loved ones had some special time together. My DH and I went out to dinner and spent a few hours together. My youngest came home from college this past weekend so we got to spend some time with him.
Tonight I have a quick post. I was asked to make some thank you cards that will be used for the Indiana Association of Institutional Research conference. I'm still working with the design but here are two of the samples I came up with. This will be their 25th conference so I'm working on a design with 25 in it.

I have another idea that I want to mock up so stayed tuned for the next revision. Have a wonderful Tuesday and come back tomorrow for The Cuttlebug Spot new challenge.

A Winter Thaw

I have a quick post tonight. This card was made for two challenges. The first challenge is from Flourishes. They had a picture of lovely purple and yellow crocus poking through the snow. The picture was supposed to inspire your creation. The second challenge was to use ribbon on your creations. This challenge was from Do You Stack Up? And my card combines the two challenges.

I used the Spellbinders Lattice Pendant and the Martha Stewart leaf border punch. The image is Flourishes a Year of Flowers. Thanks for stopping by tonight. Have a wonderful Friday!

Let's Get Punchy

Welcome to a new challenge at Delightful Challenges. The design team has some great inspiration for you this week. The challenge is to use punches or die cuts. Here's my design team card:

I used Digital Delights Stars and Stripes Lara cut and embossed with Circle Nestabilities. The stars are punches from a punch and cut from my Cricut. I decorated this hand-made box with the red and blue card stock. The circle was sponged with Bashful Blue ink. The lid to the box tucks behind the front panel which is popped up on pop-dots.
Join us at Delightful Challenges this week and get punchy with a project. You'll have a chance to win two stamps from Baby Bud Designs. Don't forget to check out the design team creations for the challenge. They are awesome! Have a wonderful Thursday!

Vintage Challenge

I am running down to the wire this week getting my challenge card in for Joan's Garden. I'm not sure where the time goes any more. Joan always challenges me and this week is no different. One of the requirements was a vintage look and I am not very comfortable with vintage. I don't think I have the right kind of tools for vintage. But here's what I came up with.
The requirements for the challenge were:
1. Use Coral/pink and Green for your colors
2. A Birthday Sentiment
3. Vintage Paper
4. Handmade or Punch flower
There a little green and pink in there. The background paper is from Webster's Pages. The flower I hand-crocheted; my first but not my last attempt at crocheting flowers. I've decided that I am going to try to crochet more flowers during my lunch hour at work. I added a really cool button as the flower center. The picture doesn't do it justice. I added a few leaves to give it some depth. I really love the look of hand-made flowers.
Hope your week is going well. Come back tomorrow for a new challenge at Delightful Challenges!
Hope you stay warm on this very cold night!

Card Patterns Challenge

Happy Monday! I spent the day distributing 3 semis of Girl Scout cookies to Girl Scout leaders in the cold! But I am so happy it was today and not on another day this week. It's supposed to be much colder the rest of the week. I'm finally starting to thaw out after being home for three hours. Anyhoo, my card today is for the Card Patterns challenge.

The stamps are from Just Rite stamps. I added a few embellishments of self-adhesive flower and tear drops. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Is it Spring Yet?

This week we had a huge storm blow through in Indiana as many of you did. I thought I'd share some pictures of the storm and then our weather today. More snow.
This past week we were on the southern end of the storm so we got ice rather then snow. This is the view of our front yard with the ice on the trees.

So today we have another storm blowing through. We were supposed to get up to 3 inches of snow. I think we have that already and it's still snowing. Oh joy! Here's the same shots from today's front yard view.

So I'm hoping my next pics of the front yard are of gorgeous tulips and daffodils poking their little heads up from the ground. Bring on the spring! Have a great weekend!

Hugs for Katie

I posted earlier about a special campaign for Katie Renz, a designer for Clear Dollar Stamps, that was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer. Several stamp companies banded together in an effort to help Katie and her family pay for her medical bills. You can find the information about the stamps and how you can help at Jak Heath's blog. My card today was made with the images donated by Digital Delights but Louby Loo. I bought the package of amazing stamps and Jak is now having a contest to use the images that will help Katie. This is my entry into the contest. I hope you will check it out, help Katie and enter the contest for a chance at some fabulous prizes. The information about the contest can be found here.
Have a wonderful Friday. Hope you are all safe and warm.

So Sweet

So Sweet

I made another card tonight since we only had a few episodes of flickering lights and electricity outages. Half of our neighborhood is out but we are obviously fortunate so far. I made a card for several different challenges.

The digital image and sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps called Sweet Stuff. The background is embossed with Spellbinders Contemporary Heart Pendant and the borders are punched with Martha Stewart French Scroll border punch. The sentiment was cut from Spellbinder Tags die. The ribbon is black and white gingham from Gina K. I used a few pearls as embellishments.
The challenges I made this for include:
Hope you are safe and warm and everyone has electricity. Take care and be careful out there!

Come Fly with Me

This week's Delightful Challenge is to come fly with us: use anything that flies. The design team is using the brand new release stamps from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. You can see the new badges on the left side of my blog. The new stamp that I used was the sleeping cat angel.

One of my co-workers had to put her cat down last week so I made this card for her. Here's the details.

Digital Delights stamp: Sleeping Cat Angel
Card Stock and Papers: Gray card stock, Basic Grey Max & Whiskers
Ink: Bashful Blue
Accessories and Embellishments: Scor Tape; pop-dots, Golden Rod Stickles; Spellbinders Scalloped Edge Frame, Prima Flowers
Coloring Medium: Colored Pencils, Bic Mark It markers

So come fly with us this week at Delightful Challenges and make a project with something that flies. Check Delightful Challenges for the wonderful prize this week. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a wonderful Thursday and Friday. The weekend is almost here. Yeah!

Simply Framed

If you are looking for my Cuttlebug Spot challenge card go here.

Greetings on this very cold and nasty Tuesday. If you are in the path of the storm I hope you are safe and warm. I just arrived home from work slightly early. They sent us home to avoid the weather. We are supposed to get over an inch of ice tonight and snow tomorrow. If you are getting snow I'll trade you if you'd like. I'd much rather have snow than ice. Anyway, just be safe and warm.

My card today is for Joan's Garden challenge. Joan always has several requirements for her challenge and I think it takes more thought to make the project. But what I like is that I always love the outcome. And that's what I think about today's card: I love it!
 The requirements this week are:
  • use yellow and green for your colors
  • use a piece of trim
  • use a frame to call attention to your focal point and
  • use embossing.
So here's what I came up with:
I used the trim to create the frame for my sentiment. I am always reluctant to make sympathy cards and when I need one I usually don't have one made. So I thought I might make one ahead of time. I added three more pieces of trim at the bottom of the frame and embellished them with small pearls. The sentiment is stamped in black and embossed with clear embossing powder.
The background paper is Basic Grey Origins and embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder. I used Certainly Celery ink to sponge around the edges of the sentiment. Hope you like my creation.

That's it for today. If the weather continues and the electricity stays on I hope to get some crafting done tonight and tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by. Be safe and warm!

Cuttlebug Spot Tuesday

So Monday has come and gone. I was off work because of a monster headache and body aches. Thought I was getting the flu but I think it was the weather system that's coming our way. We are supposed to get more than an inch of ice in the next 24 hours and then snow. It sounds like the next two days are going to be lots of fun. NOT! For all of those that are in the path of this storm please stay safe and warm and hopefully our electricity will stay on.

Today is a new Cuttlebug Spot Challenge. This month we have different kinds of cards to inspire the challenges. This week we'd like to see your tri-fold cards that are Valentines. The Valentine card that I made this week is for one of my sons. He's not really the romantic type so I went a little more low key for him.

The snowman image is a freebie from Little Scraps of Heaven, but I don't remember where mouse on the sleigh is from. The sentiment is computer generated. I used the D'vine Swirls embossing folder and then added glitter to some of the swirls to mimic the snow.

Hope you will check out The Cuttlebug Spot and see all the other wonderful creations from the design team. You can see them at the Cuttlebug website or check them out on the right sidebar of my blog. Then join in the fun to win a prize at the Cuttlebug Spot. Have a wonderful week and be safe wherever you are!
