HB: Here's to You

Happy Sunday evening, friends! I am feeling a bit better today so hopefully the antibiotic is doing it's job. I'd really like February to start off lots better than January did. I managed to get a few cards done today. One is for a design team coming up this week. And here's the other one.

I used a lot of dies in this card; all from My Favorite Things.

I finished off with a white gel pen to give some embellishment to the balloons. I used the My Favorite Things Sketch challenge as inspiration. I am entering:
Hope your weekend was fun and productive. I am going to try to do my volunteer hours tomorrow if I don't cough everyone away from me. I haven't seen the twins since Wednesday and I miss them a bunch. Hopefully I will see them on Wednesday. Make this a super week!

Birthday Bunny

I needed to finish up one more progressive challenge for the month. I slept most of the afternoon and seem to be feeling a bit better this evening so I took advantage of that and went to play at my desk.

I have several birthdays coming up in the next two weeks and I usually get those cards done in January but I am struggling this year. So this one is for a niece in the family. She's kind of a girlie girl so I think she'll like the pink. The image is from Di's Digis  called Bunny Cupcake Wagon and is the freebie for the progressive challenge at The Outlawz. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers and then die cut it with MFT Stitched Circles. The bendable banner and sentiment are from Simon Says Stamps. Both of the patterned papers are from my scrap box. I am entering these challenges:

Thanks for stopping by today. I can feel my bed calling me again. Hopefully I will improve a bit every day. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Scribbles Designs

Back today with my second guest design project for January. The Birthday Party Blowout is still going on at the Scribbles Designs blog with lots of prizes to win!

This month I got to work with Carl Party Digi Stamp set. For my card today I paper pieced much of this card including Carl himself with a really fun textured card stock. The candles and present and icing on the cake are colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I really love the black card stock that pops the card's green glittery color. I hope you have already participated in the Birthday Party Blowout but if you've missed anything you can use the links below to check it out.

DAY 2, click HERE
DAY 3, click HERE
There are lots of images to be won and
you have until Feb. 14th to complete all tasks!
I am entering these challenges:
I had to go to the doctor yesterday. I thought I had finally gotten rid of whatever I had earlier this month but it came back with a vengeance after the funeral on Thursday. I do now know that it isn't the flu although I feel absolutely awful. But I do have a bacterial infection. I am now on antibiotics and hopefully it will knock it out for good. My 2018 has not started out so good. I hope this isn't an omen of what's to come. Thanks for stopping by. I do hope you will have some fun and check out the Scribbles Designs Birthday Blowout. Have an awesome day!

A Little Panda Love

Happy Wednesday!I will be off this morning to play with the kiddos at Head Start, especially the twins. Both of them have been sick with eye and ear infections and generally runny noses and nasty coughs. It's so difficult to watch them be sick and not be able to help them feel better. I am hoping that we've had enough of that now and we can move out of the sick stage and on to something else more fun. My card today is for one of my progressive challenges.

This image is from Gerda Steiner called Panda in Love. He's a definite cutie and I may have to use him again as I work on my Valentine cards. I colored the image with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers and then added some gel pen highlights. I used three different designer papers from my scrap box. I die cut the image with MFT Stitched Circles and the flags were die cut with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips. I added some gems as embellishments. I am entering these challenges:

I need to get my progressive challenges done as we will be leaving town for family matters within the next few days. Hope your week is going well. Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

Grateful

Happy Monday evening! It's been a busy day and it looks like a very busy week ahead. Seems to be lots going on this week. I managed to get a card done this evening. I bought this set from My Favorite Things before Christmas. I left that purchase near my desk but forgot all about it. So it was like Christmas all over again when I found it recently. So this is a new stamp set for me. It's called Grateful for You.

I used the MFT Star Grid stencil to create the background with three of my favorite distress inks: mustard seed, peacock feathers and picked raspberries. I die cut the background with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares. I die cut the grateful twice; once with a blue green card stock much like peacock feathers and then again with yellow fun foam. I glued them together slightly offset so you could see both colors. The sentiment is also from the set. I double embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and die cut it with MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. I am entering these challenges:
Our weather today was rainy and warmer. Got up into the 50s. But tomorrow we are supposed to be cooler again. Later this week we have another warm up and then drop back down. Our weather is yoyoing all over the place. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your week is off to a great start!

Another Birthday

One last card for the Bugaboo Birthday Bash this week. I wasn't able to play along every day but I got 4 out of 7 days done. Today I worked on the Day 4 challenge which was the bingo grid.

So I made a quick card this afternoon.

So I chose the diagonal from the right hand top corner: die/punch - Bugaboo image - funny sentiment. Actually I have several rows or diagonals on this one. I used Bird Greetings - Sweet Birthday colored with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut with MFT Cross Stitch Ovals. I used designer paper scraps from my scrap box for the background as well as the black card stock piece. The sentiment is from Create with TLC (Birthday Chick It;s all about you today). I embossed the sentiment background with the dots embossing folder for texture. I added ric rac ribbon and some self-adhesive gems for embellishment. I am entering these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by. I am off with my husband to play bridge with some friends. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It's a Twofer Day

Happy Thursday! It's been a busy day today. I am really tired. I may finish this up and head for bed a bit early I hope. I tried to call my doctor today but she's on vacation until Monday. So I either decide I feel bad enough to go to a clinic or I wait until Monday. I'll see what I feel like tomorrow. In finished a card last and tonight so I have two cards to post today.

This card is for Day 5 of the Catch the Bug Birthday Bash. The challenge was to use humor with cupcakes. At first I thought that cake was a bunch of cupcakes on top of one another but there is a little cupcake down in the left hand corner so I hope this qualifies. This lady bug birthday is just too cute. I colored the images with American Craft markers and then doe cut both the image and sentiment with MFT inside and out stitched rounded corner squares. But I cut each one twice so that two corners were rounded and 2 corners were square. I got them almost identical which I thought was really pretty good. The plaid paper is from my scrap box and I added some enamel dots from Close to my Heart as embellishments. I am entering these challenges:

My second card tonight is for Valentine's Day. The image is this month's Limited Run progressive image. You can join the fun for free this month so you might want to check it out.

The image and the "love grows" sentiment are the freebies this month. I followed the sketch at Atlantic Hearts for this card.

The images are colored with Spectrum Noir markers and then embellished with white gel pen dots. I did add an extra sentiment from MFT All About You stamp set. The images were die cut with MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me tonight. I'm really tired tonight. Hope you had a wonderful day today and Friday brings you lots of joy. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you come again soon!

Season to be Freezin'

You can say again! It's been very cold here ever since we got the last 5 inches of snow. And guess whose furnace went out overnight last night. Fortunately the heating people were here by 9:30 am this morning to fix it and it didn't cost us an arm and a leg. At least he didn't tell us we needed a new furnace. So we do have heat back on for which I am very grateful. It was very cold in here this morning.
I did go to volunteer at Head Start this morning. Poor little Arthur has an eye and ear infection so he couldn't go but Valerie was there. Most of the kids have the sniffles and a cough so I was forever wiping noses and washing my hands! I don't need any more germs, thank you very much! I have plenty of my own. Valerie is very different when Arthur isn't around and it's fun to watch what she does.
I finished a card last might that's pretty simple but I really like it.

I printed off the snowman from QKR Stampede called Feeding the Birds. I think he is such a cutie. I colored him is shades of blue. Then I used my white gel pen to add some dots for interest. I stamped on my sentiment which is from Peachy Keen Stamps called Chill Baby Chill (no longer available). I inked it with MFT Blueberry pigment ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. And to finish it off I found several snowflakes on my desk from another project. The snowflakes are from MFT Layering Snowflake dies. The card base is a dark blue. That snowman really makes a cute card! I am entering these challenges:

Well I have to run back to Head Start and pick up Valerie. Her Dad isn't feeling well today and my daughter doesn't drive so it me. I had just enough time to get some lunch, put on a pot of chili and make this post. Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm!

I colored my images with Spectrum Noir markers and then did some doodling with a white gel pen to make them stand out. The sentiment is also in the stamp set. Bugaboo Birthday Day 2

I can't seem to completely shake this flu. I may have a possible ear infection now. Guess I should just call the doctor and get it over with. Our school system is out again today because of the snow we got yesterday and the freezing cold temperatures. The wind chill was supposed to be below zero all day today. I decided I'd just stay in today. I had thought about going to the grocery but we have plenty for dinner and I don't have to pick up the twins today. They are in school even though the system is off. Go figure!
So I had a bit of time today to play at my desk. Hoping to get a more time later today but I have a few things to clean up before I do. I did get a card done for the Bugaboo Birthday sketch challenge.

I used the Bugaboo image Birthday Penguin Cupcake. I colored him with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers and die cut him with MFT Stitched Circles. I inked the background of the image with Tumbled Glass distress ink. The circle is backed with Spellbinder's Scalloped Circles in red card stock. I added a bunch of gems around the scallops to bling it up! The confetti paper is a piece from my scrap box. The sentiment is from Hero Arts It's Your Day stamp set and was heat embossed with black embossing powder and then die cut with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips. The base is yellow card stock. I am entering these challenges:
I am off to see what else I can get accomplished before making dinner. And then hope to play at my desk later on. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a special surprise. Thanks for stopping in today! Stay warm.

Dueling Darlings Dazzlers - January

Happy Monday and Happy Martin Luther King Day to those in the U.S. Today is a day of service here. My DH and I will be volunteering at Opportunity House this morning. I didn't get to go there last week since I had the flu. Still not feeling totally well but we'll see how it goes.
In November a dear friend of mine (hi, Shelly) invited me to join a group on Splitcoast Stampers. The groups sends kits to each of the members and the members then design a card using the supplies sent and the instructions given. So our group will post on the 15th of each month. Today is my first post as a Dueling Darling. We are divided into Dazzlers and Divas. I am a Dazzler. Our supplies this month included calendars for January 2018 along with some lovely paper. Here's what I came up with.

If you look closely you can see that the silver card stock is glitter paper. Gorgeous in real life. And the black card stock is also textured. You may be able to see the texture a bit in the bottom corners or on the sentiment strip. To create the corners I used an old Stampin' Up! punch. The calendar I die cut with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares inked with Fired Brick distress ink. The heart was stamped with Abandoned Coral distress ink over the date of a friend's birthday. I tied a red ribbon through the card and added some red gemstones. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I am looking forward to more fun with this group. My turn to make the kit comes in March so stay tuned to see what my partner and I come up with! In the right hand column I have a list of the other Dazzlers. Click on each of their names to go to their blogs and see what they did with this kit. It's always fun to see how everyone has come up with different things using the same supplies. Thanks for stopping by!

Bugaboo Birthday Week

I didn't realize that this week would be the 8th Bugaboo Birthday celebration. For some reason I hadn't been getting the emails of their posts recently. So I am behind the times a bit. The celebration started yesterday With a bold and bright birthday wishes. Of course the theme all week will be birthday, perfect for me because I love to get ahead on birthday cards during the month of January!

So my bold and bright card features Bug Brats Cake image die cut with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitch Rectangles. I used the Sketch Saturday sketch for inspiration. The sentiments are from MFT Happy Hippo and die cut with MFT Essential Sentiment Strips and embellished with an enamel heart. The twine is from Doodle Twine. I am entering these challenges:

So I think my flu may have morphed into another sinus infection. Feeling worse today than I had been. So the doctor may be getting a call tomorrow morning. We'll see how it progresses. Hope you had a lovely weekend. The twins are on their way here to play for a bit and then we are going to take them out for dinner. Thought we'd get them out of the apartment for something different. More snow forecast for tomorrow so we may be stuck indoors again. Hope your week starts off with all good things!

You Amaze Me

Happy Saturday! Yesterday I showed you Valerie's Valentine. Today I have Arthur's Valentine. I'll tuck these away and know that I have them done. Hopefully I won;t have a senior moment and forgot that I'd already made them. LOL!

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps called Make It Snappy - Boy Valentines Day. I couldn't find the boy version on the site but I did find the girl version. I followed the Stella Sketch.

The designer paper is all scraps from my box. I used a Martha Stewart border punch and the My Favorite Things All About You stamp set for the sentiment. The image is colored with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. I added Spectrum Noir shimmer pen to the balloons and some gems for embellishments. I am entering these challenges:
We are off to a memorial service this afternoon. Hopefully we won't get stopped by the police. It's essential travel only right now. But the roads don;t look too bad. I am feeling a bit better today although kind of dizzy. I may need a nap. Have a super weekend.

You Rock

Happy snowy Friday! We are in the middle of a snow storm. Supposed to get several inches but it's the ice underneath that's the problem. It rained all night long and then dropped 30 degrees and turned to sleet and then snow. Wonderful driving conditions - not! But fortunately all the schools are closed so I am thankful I don't have to pick up the twins today. Instead I did a little stamping and coloring.

This will be my granddaughter, Valerie's, Valentine card. This sweet bugaboo image is Kidz Love Girl. I colored her with Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. The hearts and her bow were then colored with Spectrum Noir shimmer pen. I die cut her with MFT Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames. And die cut the frame in black card stock. I cut a small strip of black card stock for the edges of the card. The gingham is a scrap from my scrap bin. The base card is red and on the right side I stamped some small hearts in versa mark ink and heat set them. The sentiment is from MFT All About You stamp set. I am entering these challenges:

Thanks for stopping by today. I am beginning to feel a little better although my voice has not returned. It's been a week now and I am really ready to feel like myself again. If you are in this snow storm, stay safe and warm. My DH just came home from work (early) and said the roads are much worse now than they were this morning. Have a super weekend!

The Best Hugs

Lots of dizziness and headaches today but I think I am feeling a bit better today. The only thing I really did was pick up the twins from Head Start this afternoon. Their bright smiles always make me feel better. So today I started looking at making some cards to send for Valentine's Day.

I used a black card stock base. I used the MFT Star Grid stencil to create the background with Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry distress inks. The hearts, stars and the stitched background die are from MFT Blueprints 13 die set. The "you" is die cut from MFT You Trio die-namics and the rest of the sentiment is from MFT All About You stamp set. I added some Dimensional Magic to the stars and some Wink of Stella to the "you." I am entering these challenges:

Almost time for bed. I get tired fairly easily. We are under a winter storm warning through tomorrow. They are predicting 1-3 inches of ice and snow. It's raining right now and it has been all day so this will all turn to ice as our temperatures will be dropping 30 degrees. So driving tomorrow should be fun, fun, fun. I do have to pick up the twins tomorrow afternoon but DH has already said he won;t be very busy at work and he may be able to go in my place. We'll see how that works out. Stay safe if you are getting nasty weather this weekend.

Cleaning Off my Desk

So tonight I started cleaning off my desk. I am hoping to get more organized this year but so far I haven't been able to do anything. I thought cleaning off my desk might be a good start. So I found this image that I had intended to make a card with but never got to it. So here it is.

The image is from QKR Stampede called Shepherd. I love this image. So masculine but yet childlike. I used the MFT Sun Ray stencil with Mustard Seed distress ink to ink the background rays. The scraps of paper are from American Craft Christmas paper. It's hard to tell but it's wood grain and I thought that would work well for the manger. I colored the image with colored pencils and then die cut it with a tag die from MFT Blueprints 13, The stars are also from Blueprints 13. I used fun foam to pop them up off the card. The sentiment is from Altenew Halftone Holidays stamp set. Now I have a start on Christmas 2018. LOL!
I am entering these challenges:

My head is now throbbing and my bed is calling me once again. Thanks for stopping by. Hoping tomorrow is a feel better day! Take care.

Deepest Sympathy

So I am into day 5 of the flu and while I have some lucid times, by the afternoon I am tired and aching. So before lunch yesterday I got a call from a very dear friend who also had the flu. She called to tell me her husband had passed away after a long illness. So of course I had no sympathy cards ready to go. On my desk was the Simon Says Layered Chrysanthemum stamp set. I don't think I had ever used the flowers but I used one of the sentiments in a card a few days ago. So I thought I would use my MISTI to make a sympathy card using this stamp set. And since I was making one card why not make several so that I would have some in stock for later, right? That was my first mistake.
So I played around with ink combinations and wrote down the ones I liked. That took a bunch of time. Then I started stamping and tried to make three cards at the same time. It became apparent that I was going to have to mask. So I remembered I bought masking paper that had never been opened. I got that out. Stamped the image and then realized I had stamped on the wrong side of the paper. So I had to do it again. All of this is taking up a lot of time and I am feeling worse as the day goes on. Long story short. It took me the rest of the day just to finish the fronts of the cards. If anyone has any tips for using layering stamps and how to correctly line them up, I'd be really grateful to know. I watched several videos using this stamp set but not one of them showed how to line these up.

I think you have to get pretty close to notice the flowers being off but the leaves are very noticeable. The Deepest Sympathy sentiment is from Hero Arts called Everyday Sayings and Sending Prayers and Hugs is from another new set that I hadn't used yet from Simon Says Stamps called Prayers. The sentiment strips are MFT Essential Sentiment Fishtail Sentiment Strips. I did pop up one flower on each of the cards.

I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch as inspiration.
I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me. My headache is back so it's time to get off the computer. Thanks for stopping by. Any tips on masking or layered stamping would be very much appreciated. I need to figure out how to make those techniques easier! Have a super day.

It's Your Day

Welcome Tuesday! I am tired of being in bed. So last night I managed to get the front of a birthday card done but ran out of steam so I had to finish this morning. Still blowing, coughing and generally achy all over with lots of headaches but I hate lying around doing nothing. So today I am going to stamp, because that always makes me feel better.

So I used MFT Happy Hippo stamp set. All the images and the sentiments are from this set. I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out after I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. The die cut windows were done with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares. The background designer paper is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. For the sentiment, I embossed it with white embossing powder and then die it with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips. I used the MFT Sketch challenge as inspiration:

And in keeping with one of my New Year's resolutions (finish the inside of the card when you do the outside), I've also completed the inside of the card with with same stamp set.

I am entering these challenges:
I seem to be running out of steam again. It must be time for a nap. Thanks for stopping by to visit. I promise, no germs will be sent to anyone. LOL! Make is a super fun day!

More Thank Yous

It's been a while since I posted. Life got hectic with the twins and then they decided to share some kind of illness with me. I thought I might have the flu but it's had to say. Have a lot of the cold symptoms but also a lot of the flu symptoms. Can't seem to shake it so I'm going to lay low for a few days and only do what I have to do. I can stay home tomorrow except for picking up the twins from Head Start. Earlier this week I managed to get a couple more thank yous finished for sending Christmas thanks. I am using a one sheet wonder template  from joyfullymadedesigns.blogspot.com for these. I forgot to photograph the first card and already sent it out, but there are 8 more to go. Here are 2 of them.

I used the Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangles for the frame. I mounted the designer paper on a couple of layers. The sentiment is from Simon Says Layered Chrysanthemums and die cut with MFT Cross Stitch Ovals and then backed with Spellbinder's Beaded Ovals. I added a couple of light blue pearls for embellishment.
My second card is also from this one sheet wonder.

Difficult to see in the photo but the background is embossed with the Holly Swirl embossing folder. Again I backed the one sheet wonder cut out with several layers of card stock. The border is from Magnolia Berry Lace border. The sentiment is from the Altenew Beautiful Lady stamp set die cut with MFT Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips and backed with Spellbinder's Grommet Tags. Again I used a couple blue pearls for embellishment. Sorry no links tonight. I don;t have the energy to look them all up.
I am entering these challenges:

That's it for me today. More Tylenol and back to bed. Hope you are warm and healthy and your week is off to a great start!

Thank You Poinsettia

Happy Wednesday! I haven't had a lot of crafting time this week. I am trying to get caught up with other activities that I let slide over the holidays. So today I went back to Head Start to play with the kids. Two new kids in the class so a couple new little ones to play with. After that I took my daughter to the grocery store and then back to pick up the twins from Head Start. I am doing that all week since their dad is working day shift all week. Tomorrow morning I am cashiering at Opportunity House all morning and then need to do some shopping after that. Friday is free except for twin pick up so hopefully Friday I might get some crafting time. Here's one CAS thank you card for Christmas.

The poinsettia image is from Pattie's Creations. I colored the image with Copic markers and added Ruby Slippers Stickles to the poinsettia flowers. The thank you is a die cut from AlteNew. I used a marker to faux stitch the thank you die cut. Very simple.
I am entering these challenges:

I am about to call it a day! It's been a busy one and another full day tomorrow. Hope your week is going well. The weekend is one it's way. Praying for all those in the east who are expecting the hugs snow storm. My boys are in Boston and they are hunkering down for the storm. Thanks for stopping by!

Jolly Snowmen

This is my second post for today. Go here if you are looking for my 2 Crafty Critters challenge post, This time we are beginning a new challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up. The challenge is always anything goes but we have an optional theme of a touch of frost. Lisa Decosse designed some gorgeous digital papers for this challenge. I was thrilled to use one of them on my card.

Our sponsor this month is Scribbles Designs. The image that I used is called Snowheads 2. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers and then doodled on the hats of the snowmen with a white gel pen. I thought about doodling the scarves too but decided against it. The sentiment is from Flourishes Christmas Music stamp set (no longer in business). The papers are by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. And I embellished the card with MFT Layered Snowflake dies and Diamond Stickles on the snowmen's hats.

I know Christmas is just over but it's never too early to start thinking about next Christmas. I am already adding to my stash. Stop by the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up and join the fun.
I am entering these challenges:
That's it for me today! Back to a more normal schedule tomorrow. We'll have to see if the kids go back to school or not. The temps are below zero overnight and our high today was 7 degrees. Very cold here. So maybe we won;t be normal after all. Have a wonderful evening!
