It's a Wedding

Happy Wednesday! I finished the centerpieces this morning for the rehearsal dinner. I'll be sure to take a picture when we have the flowers in place so I can show you all the finished product. I'm happy with them. I had to go buy a heart punch this morning in order to finish. Tom usually buys one new tool for each big project he does so I consider this my tool for this big project. LOL! The ekSuccess punch that I bought is adjustable for three sizes of hearts. It's kind a fun and I think it will come in handy for Valentine's Day. But what I wanted to share today was the card that I made for Steve and Anne's wedding.

The colors for the wedding is navy blue and yellow. The image is From the Heart Stamps called True Love. I used a Spellbinder's Pendant die as the background. I colored the image with Copic markers and layered it up. I added three gemstones on either side of the image.  Here's the inside the the card.

I put two sentiments together. The "United in Love, United in Life" is from Beccy's Place. And the "and so the adventure begins" is from Create with TLC. I used a variety of circle dies to layer up the sentiment.

I am entering these challenges:

Well I am off to the airport to pick up one son. The other was delayed. They took his plane out of service so he is in the process of being rerouted. There is always a glitch. But as long as he arrives safe and sound I will be a happy camper. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Happy crafting!

Graduation and a Little Christmas

Happy Tuesday! It's so nice to be on vacation. I am finishing up everything I need to do for the wedding this week. I had to visit Michael's again today to get more of the burlap and lace that I am using for the centerpieces. I ran out late last night. But they are almost finished. I have a couple cards today for challenges that I wanted to play in before the end of the month. We only had one invitation for graduation this year so my lone graduation card will be mailed tomorrow.

I used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set and some paper that I found in my stash. I die cut the numbers in maroon. The school colors are maroon and gold. All three of my kids graduated from this high school. Pretty easy and simple.
I am entering these challenges:

My second card for this post is a really simple one. I decided to keep this really simple because of time constraints and it's the last of my progressive challenges for the month.

Since the little girl has holly leaves in her hair and a present next to her I took this as a Christmas image. The image is from Ppinky Dolls and is the progressive image for the month of May at The Outlawz site. And she looked so sad to me that I paired her up with a missing you sentiment from MFP Stamp Shop. I matched the green of the base card and added some green touches with a Copic marker to the image and embossed the Missing You! sentiment. And  I added a faux stitch border around the edge. This will be for one of my friends who I never get to see at Christmas time. I am entering it into the progressive challenge at The Outlawz.
Well, that's it for me today. I have my son and new daughter-in-law's wedding card to show you yet. I am super happy about the way it turned out and can't wait to share it. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

CAS Christmas

Happy Memorial Day! I want to thank all of you who are veterans or are active military or are family of either or family of someone who lost their life protecting our country. I so appreciate the men and women who put their lives on the line daily to preserve our lives here in the US. Today as always they are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am on vacation! WooHoo! Tom and I took a couple days this weekend and left TV and Internet behind and sat out on the porch of our "retreat place." Two beautiful days weather-wise. I was able to get all 65 of my rehearsal dinner favors done. The dinner is this Friday. I found out over the weekend that the restaurant does not have centerpieces for the tables so that's my next project this week. Everything has to be ready by Wednesday when we pick our boys up at the airport and head for the wedding. I have my work cut out for me.
I missed posting my design team card yesterday for the new Outlawz CAS challenge. This was my week off but I thought the challenge sounded so interesting that I wanted to play along. How about a little R & R. You might be thinking rest and relaxation. Well we interpret that a bit differently. Use red and ribbon on your CAS creation.

I have a scrap bag for pieces of ribbon. And I thought what better way to use some of it up by weaving the ribbon pieces together. So I made a background of ribbon. The poinsettia is a pre-colored digi from Doodle Pantry that I fussy cut. And finally I embossed the sentiment from Gina K in gold embossing powder. I really like how this one turned out but I doubt I will be using it for my mass produced Christmas card this year. LOL! That weaving really took some time.
I am entering these challenges:
I have a couple more things to share this week but my time is going to be limited. And I am likely to be missing for a time with the wedding and the following weekend is day camp training. I have to have everything ready for that. So I'll pop in when I can. In the meantime, make it an awesome week and thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Treats

It's Tuesday. My day off of work yesterday was extremely busy. Laundry, dishes, shopping, and working on day camp and wedding ideas made the day go way too fast! So it was back to work today wishing I had gone to half time instead of three quarter time. LOL! Next year maybe.
I can't believe that my baby boy will be getting married next week. Of course we are in charge of the rehearsal dinner. I wanted to make a favor of some kind to give out to the 65 participants. So here's what I came up with.

The image is called Bride and Groom from Beccy's Place. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Party Banners die for the tag. I fussy cut the image and printed the sentiment on my computer and die cut it with Spellbinders circle die. I trimmed the top with ribbon. I added Hershey Hugs and Kisses to my Cello Treat Bag and stapled the tag to the bag behind the ribbon. I hope they like the little treat for the dinner. Dessert with dinner. What do you think? One down and 64 to go. LOL!

Hope your week is off to a fabulous start. Thanks for stopping by.

Stenciled Christmas

So behind on Christmas cards this year. I need to pick up the pace or I won't be ready for Christmas cards this year. So I have a card that I made for a couple challenges.

I used the Simon Says stencil and inked it with Versa Mark ink and then added the gold embossing powder to make the night sky. I added a red edge to match the snowman's coat. I embossed the sentiment with the same gold embossing powder and cut it into a banner. The snowman is embellished with Clear Stickles. The snowman image is from From the Heart Stamps called Catching Flakes. I colored him with Copic markers. I used the sketch from i {heart} card sketch with a twist. The twist is cute, cute, cute. I'm not sure if I got the twist in or not. What do you think?

I am entering these challenges:
I gave away all the fudge I made on Monday to the Girl Scout leaders this evening. It's out of my refrigerator. Yeah! I do have some brownies left since I had to bring a dessert but not very many. I received the Leadership of Excellence award. Over 20 years of volunteering for Girl Scouts. I still love working with the girls even though I don't have a daughter in a troop anymore.
Stay tuned! I have just finished posting over 1000 blog posts. So that deserves some candy I think. I'll get something together and post very soon! Stay tuned. Have an awesome Friday and hope you have a crafty weekend!

Birthday Smiles

Happy Wednesday! Beautiful weather today but a little cool. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer. But I do love the sunshine. Earlier this week I posted a card for my Mom. Today I have another card that both my Mom and MIL would have liked but for different reasons. My Mom would have loved the pansies. She always talked about their cute little faces and my MIL would have liked this card because it's purple. She loved purple.

The image is a pre-colored image of the month from Imagine That! There are actually two very pretty stamps of the month and either one can be used for the challenge. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp of the Month kit. I die cut the image with Spellbinder's Circle die and backed it with a Spellbinder's Beaded Circles. I used Stickles Yellow glitter to enhance the image. I cut the sentiment into a banner shape. All the paper used as the background and die cuts are from my scrap box. I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch for my card.

I am entering these challenges:
Well, we are on the down side of the week. Are you looking forward to the weekend? I am. I hope we get to spend it out at our other property. Very quiet and relaxing and I'm sure I'll get some crafting time. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you've been crafting!

Father's Day Love

Happy Monday! This was my first Monday at home since I changed my work hours from 40 to 30. Last Monday was actually my first Monday off but I spent 14 hours in a car driving back from Pensacola after helping my son move to a new apartment. I can't believe how much I accomplished today. I was able to get an appointment with my eye doctor. I've been trying to get that in since February. I cut and packaged fudge for a recognition dinner for Girl Scouts on Thursday and made  a second batch as I need 50 packages of fudge. I paid some bills, got my hair cut and made two meals for the week. I am so thrilled to have a day to get things done. Now why can't I do that one the weekend? Oh well, now I have Monday. Did I say I was thrilled? What a blessing Monday will be!

My card today is for Father's Day.
I actually used a Tuesday Morning Sketch but didn't get this loaded before the challenge ended. The image and sentiment are from DeeDee's stamps and it's the image of the month. The set is called Dad's Day Off. I used a pre-colored image. I used my wood grain embossing folder. Inked the sentiment and added some brads and twine as embellishments. I am entering these challenges:

I guess that's it for today. Tomorrow is back to work but I'll feel lots better since I got so much done. Take care and have an awesome week!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Sunday! Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there who are mothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, or significant female role models. This is your special day! I've been very busy today. My DH and I went to buy plants today and get our garden in order. My daughter and her husband came for dinner tonight. My DH made a wonderful pork roast on the grill.
Today is a new CAS challenge at the OutlawzThe challenge this week is to create a card for your mother or someone you regard as your mother.  If she is no longer on this earth playing with the angels, one to remember her by. We lost my mother-in-law over this past Christmas. My Mom has been gone since 2006 but I chose to make a card that I think she would have liked.

My mother was a huge flower lover. Her gardens were absolutely beautiful so I made a flower card for her. And I am thinking of her today. The image and sentiment are from DeeDee's Digis called Rose Regards. I used the pre-colored image, copied it three times and popped up pieces of the flower to give it texture. I used a Stampin' Up! punch to make the corner pieces.

Our sponsor this month for the CAS challenge is Through the Craft Room Door. Winner will receive a free 1 year subscription. What a great prize. I hope you will share a card for your mother this week. Thanks for stopping by and visiting today. Have a wonderful start to your week!

Lazy Days

Happy Saturday! How was the start to your weekend? Today is graduation day for Indiana University so you can't move in this town. Traffic is heavy and you can't get into eat at a restaurant. It's a good weekend to go out of town. But after this weekend the town will be in summer mode and everyone who lives here will breathe a sigh of relief. Townies love summertime! So my card today was inspired by summertime and those lazy days!

The inside says "I'm in energy saver mode!" I think it's a great sentiment! A great summer card. The digital image and sentiment are from DeeDee's Digis called Lazy Day. I used the pre-colored digi and die cut it with Spellbinders square dies. I embossed the background with the Victoria embossing folder and added some brown ribbon. I used this card as a CASE.

I am entering these challenges:

Hope your weekend is off to a great start. We were forecasted for rain but so far we haven't gotten any. I am praying for Oklahoma because they have obviously had their fair share. See you tomorrow with another CAS challenge using another DeeDee image. See you then!

Blooming Happiness

Wow! It's hump day already. We spent 14 hours riding in a car Monday to get home from Pensacola and it was back to work bright and early Tuesday morning. Last night I played catch up with laundry and groceries so no play time. I finally eked out a little time this evening for a card. I wanted to play in the i {heart} sketches with a twist #108 this week.

The twist was to use lots of layers. One of my favorite things to do! I used the free stamp of the month called Apple Blossom Birds

I colored the Apple Blossom Birds with Copic markers. The flowered paper is from a Simon Says Stamp kit. I embossed the pink layer with Flower Garden embossing folder. I used my ticket stub punch for the corners. I thought that would add a little different look. The sentiment is from the same set and I inked it with Salty Ocean distress ink. i layered everything with blank scraps. I used a Stampin' Up! Corner tab punch for the blue textured accent. Hope you like this one as much as I do! I just think this image is so darling!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your week is going smoothly. I am looking forward to the weekend and some crafting time. One can always hope anyway! Take care of you!

Happy May

Happy May to you all! I can hardly believe that we are into May already. So much happens for me this month. On May 1st I went from full time to three quarters time so I have 10 more hours in my week for me time and I hope some of that will be crafting time. My youngest son get married on May 30th so this month will be a busy one. At present ,y DH and I are visiting out youngest in Pensacola, Florida, helping move apartments before his bride moves down with him. We'll be driving home on Monday, a long day of driving. But I wanted to share with you all the new challenge at the Outlawz CAS group. How about sharing a May basket of flowers.

The image is from From the Heart Stamps called Spring Baskets. The image is colored with Copics. I cut it out with Spellbinder's Rectangles. I used two punches to create the borders. I used scalloped ovals and a Hello die from Simon Says. Behind the hello I added sequins of the colors that I used for the flowers in the basket. It's very difficult to see in the picture. I used the sketch at i {heart} sketches #107
The twist this week was no designer paper. I just used card stock for this card. I hope you will find the time to share some May basket love with us over at the CAS Outlawz challenge
