Happy Memorial Day to all my U.S. friends. Please take a minute to remember all those who lost their lives or served our country. Today I remember my two brothers and one sister who served our country. Fortunately, they all returned safely, but I thank them and all the other men and women who have served our country no matter what the outcome.
My card today uses a Digital Delights image of Ridley Raccoon. I used a technique called Reversed Nestabilities to make the card look like a shadow box. I colored the image with Sharpie markers and embossed the background with the argyle Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is from the Gina K set Inside and Out.
I punched the flowers with the Boho flower punch from Stampin' Up! and the greenery is also a punch but I'm not sure from who.
I used the same embossing folder to emboss the inside of the card also. This sentiment is also from Gina K Inside and Out.
This card works for several challenges:
Flourishes blog: use a homemade flower on your project.
Delightful Sketches: use texture on your creation.
I really like the way this one turned out. Check out the challenges and join in if you can! Have a lovely week and stop back and see me soon.
Inky hugs,
Donna

RAK for Jayme
I made this card for a very special lady. You can read about Jayme on her sister, Lisa's blog, Stamped Art by Lisa. Jayme has cancer and she loves frogs, so I made her this card in hopes of cheering her up.
I used the Stampin' Up! set called Unfrogettable. The mushrooms are background digital stamps and the frog and sentiment are from the stamp set. I cut the sentiment with a Spellbinders die and sponged the edges. The base is textured card stock. I added some ribbon through the edges of the tag die.
If you have time or an extra card to cheer Jayme, please pop over to Lisa's blog for the details and the address.
Thanks for stopping by today. I'll be traveling this weekend so I won't be posting. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day. Please remember all those who have given their lives and those that survived the fighting to make us free. God bless them all. Take care!

Card Pattern Challenge
I've been a terribly lazy blogger this week. And actually a terribly lazy crafter this week too. But I wanted to share this card that I made for the Card Pattern Sketch Challenge. I used one of my favorite Gina K stamps: the hot air balloons from Eclectic Summer.
The base card stock is textured and looks really cool in real life. The yellowish card stock is edged with a Martha Stewart edge punch. And the smallest layer is Basic Grey Indiana Summer and embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots. The images are paper pieced with Basic Grey paper also and backed with a sponged sky background. The additional embellishments, the star brads, follow the sketch. It's a great sketch at Card Patterns this week. Check it out!
Hope you're having a great week. We are over hump day and we're on the down side. Have a great end to your week!
Inky hugs,
Donna

Shower Me!
Woo hoo! Just a little note to say I was one of the Top 3 picked for the Delightful Sketch challenge! I am so excited! Thanks to Wendy and her wonderful DT for the honor.
It is still raining here. I am definitely sick of rain. I think the weatherman said we may see some sun on Thursday. That would be wonderful. I am hoping for good weather for Saturday since we are having a garage sale for the Girl Scouts in our county. I'm not begging for sunshine but no rain would be preferable. Now my card today is about showers though.... love showers.
Isn't little Dilly Duck just the cutest? He's one of the new digital images from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. This card is much brighter in person. The camera didn't pick up the colors very well. I used the sketch challenge at Delightful Sketches. I changed the orientation slightly. Background designer paper is from Basic Grey Lemonade which qualifies for the Scrap-Creations blog challenge (use Basic Grey paper and make a kids card). The sentiment is from Sung from the Heart by Gina K. I cut the sentiment with a Spellbinder's label die. I sponged the background paper and added some flowers and buttons to embellish the card.
Thanks for stopping by today. Couldn't resist using Dilly Duck with the weather we've been having. At least he brightens up the bleak outlook. Have a great Wednesday and take care.

Rain, Rain go Away... That's my WISH!
Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! Here it is raining yet again. I think we've had rain for the past 2 week. Or at least it feels like that long. I am wishing for some sun.
So my card today is all about wishes.
The colors, creme de menthe and lovely lavender, are from Gina K Designs, pure luxury paper. And these colors are Gina's Inspire Challenge at Stamp TV. You also need to use butterflies on your card. So the creme de menthe layer is actually the inside of the card with the base being black. I scalloped the black layer and edged the lovely lavender with the Martha Stewart Butterfly edge punch. Then I embossed the lavender layer with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder. I added some Dashes, Dots and Check ribbon and some Prima flowers. The butterfly image is from the Gina K set called Hope is Faith. The small tag is a Spellbinders die with the "Wish" sentiment from Stampin' Up!'s Small Script.
I used sketch 64 from Card Patterns for the layout.
The prize this week is sponsored by Gina K. You could win two of her newest stamp sets. So check it out.
This is the inside of the card. The sentiment on the inside is from Gina Inside and Out. I used some of the butterflies cut from the edge to decorate the inside of the card.
Thanks for stopping by today. Wishing you a week filled with sunshine.
Inky hugs,
Donna

Another Manly Card!
This does seem to be the week for manly cards. I've seen a bunch of blogs have that challenge. So here's another manly card for a couple challenges.
The Card Positioning System has a simple sketch challenge that I used for this card.
Digital Delights by Louby Lou has a "manly" challenge over at SNR Card Universe. So this card has been entered into that challenge.
And Flourishes blog challenge is still open for "manly cards." You can see other cards I entered in that challenge below this post.
And here's tonight's card...
The image is a Digital Delights image by Louby Loo. I used Basic Grey Origins for the background paper. The image is colored with Sharpie markers and cut out with an oval Nestability. I sponged the edges of the oval with Certainly Celery dye ink and backed the oval with the same brown card stock used as the base. I added buttons as embellishments and also used Stickles to give it some sparkle: Cotton Candy for the tongue, Black Diamond for the nose and Tiara for the thought bubbles.
Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow is Friday! Yippee. The weekend is almost here. Have a wonderful start to your weekend!
Inky hugs,
Donna

Fun Challenges
Happy hump day! We're on the down side to the week. Yippee! I was really pleased with my card tonight. The card is for two challenges. First, the I Heart to Stamp challenge was a sketch challenge.
And another challenge that this card works for was Scrap-Creations challenge. The challenge asked everyone to use Basic Grey paper and use an animal on the card.
And finally this card works for the "Make it Manly" challenge at Flourishes. So here's my card...
The base card is Kraft paper and all the background paper is Basic Grey Origins. I used a Spellbinders die, inked with green dye ink, and cut and embossed. I carefully cut a piece of kraft to match the middle of the Spellbinders die and stamped the sentiment from Happy Camper by Theresa Momber. The wolf is from Wildlife Reserve from Stampin' Up! I added three gold brads as embellishments. I hope you like the results as much as I do.
Have a wonderful Thursday. Thanks for stopping by to check out my newest creation. Take care!
Happy inking!

Birthday Blooms
Happy Tuesday evening! I've been working on a challenge for Clear Dollar Stamps blog Clearly iStamp. The challenge lasts throughout the month of May and you must used flowers in some way on your card. Very easy! They even have a free digital stamp that you can use.I used it below!
This is the free digi image from Clear Dollar Stamps. I colored it with Sharpie markers and used the sketch challenge on Stamp TV. The sentiment is from Bloomin' Beautiful from Stampin' Up! stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with black embossing powder. I added the ribbon to follow the sketch but also added brads to hold the ribbon.
This is the inside of the card. The images are from the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set and the sentiment is from a retired stamp set called Gettin' Buggy With It. Check out the challenge and have fun with flowers. The challenge ends on June 3rd.
Tomorrow is Wednesday! Hope the middle of your week is wonderful. Thanks for stopping by today.

Timeless Birthday Moments
It's so unusual for me to be posting on a Monday morning but a day off work can do wonders for your attitutde. You can read about my Mother's Day on the post below. It was wonderful! I am so blessed! Last night I had some time to sit down and work on a birthday card for my brother.
I had cut an oval out for an earlier card and thought I should use the cut section on a card. This is what I came up with. The images and inside sentiment is from Theresa Momber's Timeless Treasures found at Gina K Designs. I sponged the white card stock with Bashful Blue ink and then used More Mustard for the inside rim. I used the same on the Quikcutz Tag die only opposite. The time pieces are popped off the card and the outside sentiment is from Everyday Classics from Papertrey Ink.
This card is for a challenge over at Flourishes Blog. The challenge was to "make it manly." So I am entering my brother's birthday card. I have a couple other "guy cards" I have to make but don't know if I'll get them finished before the challenge is up. Thanks to Flourishes for getting me going! I didn't have any manly Flourishes stamps so I had to come up with something else.
My apologies if I haven't caught all my typos and spelling errors. I am still getting used to my new laptop. Hope you all have a wonderful week! Talk with you soon.
Inky hugs,
Donna

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all of you! This post is more of a personal update. Sorry no crafty item in this post but I may be posting again today. I just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Mother's Day and show you how incredibly blessed I am in my life.
This week has been much busier than I anticipated. Thursday was a big day. Steve, my youngest, moved home from college for the summer. Dan, my middle son, flew in from Boston for a weekend visit and my in-laws came for a weekend visit as well. So we've been busy all weekend visiting and having a wonderful time.
Today I received two lovely surprises for Mother's Day. First Dan brought me roses for Mother's Day. Aren't they beautiful!
Then my husband bought me a new laptop for me to use at my craft desk. I can now take pictures and I can send them directly to the laptop to add to the web. I don't have to wait in line for the computer anymore!

It's a beauty! I took tomorrow off of work so I have a three day weekend to enjoy the family. Dan will be flying back to Boston on Monday evening so I have tomorrow to spend some time with him. Tom's parents will be going home on Tuesday. Our next big project is a garage sale later this month.
The new laptop should make it much easier to keep up with my blog so I'm looking forward to that.
I hope your Mother's Day was as wonderful as mine has been. But the best thing for me is having everyone home. I'm off to put our lasagna dinner in the oven.
Mother's Day blessing to all!

More Recognition Gifts
Today I am sharing the rest of my gifts that I made for the Girl Scout Recognition event. If you want to see the 60 notebooks that I made scroll down to yesterday's post. I found this 5-sided container on Paper Craft Planet. It was a Tuesday 3-D challenge and I decided to make these for all the Troop Organizers in our service unit. I made two different kinds. The blue ones reminded me of the sea so I added sea creatures and used the "You're Fin-tastic!" sentiment on the top. For the others I made the fun flowers and had a "thank you" sentiment on the top. These are filled with Hershey Kisses.
And for our staff person who works with us all year long I made a desk set. You might have seen these floating around on blogs too. I found the desk organizer pattern through the Scor-Pal Yahoo group. The paper box I found in a book and the little Post-it note pad was easily covered with matching paper. This was fun to make and fun looking for things to fill it up. I included lots of the usual things like pens and pencils, paperclips, glue sticks and markers. But I also included some not so common things like a small candle, mints and gum.
And the second desk set is for our fearless service unit manager who devotes so much of her time to make everything run smoothly. Here's to you Julie! Thanks for all you do.
So that's what I've been up to for the last few weeks and why I haven't been posting as usual. I am so happy to get back to working on cards and challenges. Thanks for stopping in today. I hope your week ahead is a wonderful one. I'd just like to see the sun for a change. It's been so gloomy around here lately. Take care and stop again soon.
Inky hugs,
Donna

Volunteer Recognition Gifts!
Greetings and Happy Scrapbooking Day! I'm not a scrapbooker, at least not yet, but I hope that if that's your thing you found some time today to work on that special craft.
Monday is our Girl Scout Volunteer Recognition Event and I've been working on gifts for everyone the last few weeks. These little notebooks are for all the volunteers in our service unit. Each book was covered with designer paper (thanks Cindy for donating the paper!) using Mod Podge. Then I typed the verse, copied them on Avery labels and backed them with black card stock. The verse reads:
For another Girl Scout chore so well done
For without you activities would be none
But all your work was done in glee
Bright young faces are reward for thee.
The angel is a digital stamp from Digital Delights by Louby Lou and so perfect for these gifts because all volunteers who work with girls are definitely angels. I colored the angels with Sharpie and Copic markers and then cut and embossed them with a circle Nestability. I sponged the edges of the circle with various colors of ink trying to match one of the colors on the angel. And after everything was done I used Stickles for the halo and wings to make it sparkle. Aren't they just the cutest! Each one has a ribbon glued to be a bookmark with a gemstone attached at the bottom of the ribbon.
I don't think I managed to get all 60 of the notebooks in the picture but I really made 60 of them!
Here's some of my favorite ones. Love the DSP that was donated. Thanks for stopping by today. Stop back tomorrow. I will share the rest of the gifts that I made for the recognition event. More to come soon. Have a wonderful evening!
Inky hugs,
Donna
