The "Snow One Li

I used one of the pre-colored image in the set along with a sentiment. I used glitter paper and cut it with Spellbinders Contemporary Hearts pendant. The white background card stock was embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder. The sentiment is cut with and ek Success punch and distressed with Stampin" Up! Certainly Celery ink. The border was cut with the Martha Stewart Swirling Lace border punch. To finish off I embellished with candy cane twine and Crystal Stickles. I used the Christmas Stampin' All year Long skect #2 for this week's challenge.

My second card:
I used an outline image and sentiment. The image is colored with Bic Markers and embellished with Crystal Stickles. The background is layered and stamped with snowflake stamps using VersaMark ink.

Beccy is giving away three sets of the "Snow One Like You" digital stamps.  All you have to do is leave a comment on one of her designers blogs between now and midnight on the 3rd of October.  Three random comments will be chosen and those people will receive the full set of digital images.  You can leave a comment on as many of the designers blogs as you like... visit them all to increase your chances of winning!

Ode to Doodle Pantry III

My card tonight uses another September release image of Doodle Pantry called Camel Fun. While my hubby and I were visiting my son, Dan, in Boston he told me how much he liked the camel commercial about hump day. So I had to make him a card.

The image, sentiment and papers are all from the set. I just love the gorgeous papers that come with this set. The patterns are so fun! And the solids match so well. I used Spellbinders ovals to cut out the camel image and the triple scalloped borders for the cut borders.

Thanks again to Laurie and all the wonderful women of the Doodle Pantry design team. I so appreciate all they've done to inspire me and make me a better card maker. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by today!

Ode to Doodle Pantry Part II

Continuing with my fun with Doodle Pantry images as I say good-bye to the design team, I used one of the Halloween stamp sets released this month called Franken-Birdie. When I saw this set I laughed at the adorable birdie looking like Frankenstein. And he makes the cutest Halloween card!

Besides the image, the sentiment is from another September Halloween stamp set called Pumpkin Carving Ants. I used a spider web embossing folder and covered the web with Crystal Stickles so it really sparkles in real life. I added some ribbons and tied off knots to look a little like bats or that's what they remind me of. And finished off with some layering of the image and sentiment. I hope you are enjoying my fun with Doodle Pantry.

Ode to Doodle Pantry Part 1

You may remember that this is my last month as part of the Doodle Pantry Design Team. I have so loved my time on this team. Laurie's images and sentiments are so fun to work with and the wonderful team of women have been so inspirational to me. I'll really miss working with them all. So for the next few days I want to give you some projects made with Doodle Pantry images.

The Doodle Pantry image that I used was Stone Bridge Colored. The sentiment is from Doodle Pantry So Endearing sentiments. I used a Sizzix embossing folder called Distressed Stripes and distressed the background paper with Memento Desert Sand ink. Both the flower border and the sentiment is punched from EK Success punches. The flower border was dotted with Ruby Slipper Stickles and Studio B Blue Glitter Blue. I added the cute bicycle clip.
I'm entering these challenges:
Thanks to Laurie and all the DT from Doodle Pantry who have meant so much to me over the last year and a half. I wish them all the best. Come back tomorrow for Part 2!

Roses are Pink

My card tonight is for my sister and her husband for their anniversary. I was 14 when they got married and I was in the wedding. That was big for a 14 year old to be in a wedding. LOL!

I used the same embossing folder that I used with yesterday's birthday card from the Paper Studio. In the frame I used Spellbinders foliage dies and Gina K's A year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. I masked the rose to get two roses together. The roses are colored with Copic markers. A rather CAS card.

Celebrate

Happy Monday or almost Tuesday. Hope your week is off to a great start. I have a very quick birthday card tonight. I missed an important birthday over the weekend. I am not keeping up very well the last week or two.

The embossing folder is a new one for me. I found it at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section. It an embossing folder from the Paper Studio. I sponged the background with different shades of blue ink. And then I stamped the Birthday wishes stamp three times and colored the candles with Copics. The stamp was a birthday present from my friend Stef (Hi Stef! Thanks a bunch!). That's it for tonight. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Sailing

I am in a thank you card mode right now so I can send a few thank yous for birthday gifts. This first card is for Tom's brother and sister-in-law who took us sailing last weekend. They even had a small birthday cake for me. So I wanted to send a thank you for the wonderful time we had!

I sponged the background with darker blue ink. The image is from Gina K and the sails were paper pieced. I embossed the lighter blue piece with a border from Just my Type embossing folders and enhanced them with Crystal Stickles. They aren't showing up in the photo but they make it look really cool and shimmery. I added the Thank you sentiment.
The inside is a sentiment from Doodle Pantry.

I used the same paper that I used to piece the sails for the inside. The sentiment is cut with a die from Clear Dollar Stamps.
I can't wait for the weekend. Work has been busy this week and I've had a bunch of things to catch up with at home. I'm hoping to spend my weekend being crafty! Thanks for stopping by!

Home from Boston

Happy Monday! I am exhausted tonight and think I am heading to bed early tonight. Nothing crafty this weekend but the weekend was awesome with my son, Dan. Arrived in Boston on Thursday and had dinner out that night at Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant. Delicious! Friday we took a Duck Boat Tour of Boston and then went through the Science Museum. That was fun! Saturday we drove to Connecticut to sail with Tom's brother Bill for the day. Perfect day and the company was great! Had dinner in Mystic Seaport and then drove home to Dan's apartment in Boston. Sunday we sadly watched our beloved Colts lose to Miami. We watched part of the Manning Bowl before heading to downtown Boston for dinner and then a walk through downtown and the wharf. Gorgeous night and such fun!
And then there was the drama of today. We were up early this morning and left for the airport around 7 am. The first flight took us to Reagan International Airport in Washington D.C. We landed and the captain said that we'd be sitting on the tarmac for a while because no gates were open. We had a very short time span between flights so we were slightly worried about making our next flight. Even though the flight attendants didn't say anything, it trickled through the plane that the airport had been closed because of the tragedy at the Naval Shipyards which is near the airport. We sat for about a half hour before the plane moved and the planes started taking off again. By the time we got off the plane we had to board the next one so we took off from Washington D.C. about 45 minutes late and about 45 minutes late into Indianapolis. Not too bad. Made it home by 3:30 pm and found out that Tom's work was locked down with a shooting threat. Tom wasn't there but my son Steve was. Nothing happened but they took the threat seriously and Steve said when he left there were 4 police cars in the parking lot. No one is allowed in without their badge.
It's been quite a day and I am exhausted. I do hope to get back to crafting tomorrow night after heading back to work tomorrow. Hope you've had a great start to your week. Please pray for those who lost their lives today and their families. They are definitely in mine.

Sew Grateful

One quick card and then I have to go pack or I'll be taking nothing with me to Boston tomorrow. Haha! I'll be gone for a long weekend to visit my son in Boston. I am hoping for cooler weather in Boston. We were supposed to hit a record high today.
Sorry about the fuzzy photo. I had to take it after dark tonight.

The image and sentiment are from Clearly Digital Stamps. I used fancy tags from Spellbinders to cut out the sentiment and the image was cut with Spellbinder's circle dies and backed with Spellbinder scalloped die. The borders were punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I hadn't used this set before so I thought it was time to use it.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back next week! Have a super weekend!

Christmas Magic

Good evening. I was thinking that maybe a Christmas card this evening would help cool it off a bit. Heat index over 100 today and tomorrow is supposed to be about 95 degrees. Funny how we are having summer in September. I am headed for Boston on Thursday so I do hope it's cooler out east. Christmas, ah yes. I am ready for cooler weather.

This cute little guy is from QKR Stampede and is one of two of the free images for Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas challenge. I colored him with Copics.
Supplies:
image: QKR Stampede
sentiment: The Little Paper Shop
border: Martha Stewart
embellishment: snowflake punch, Baby Blue Stickles
Copic colors: YG17, YG67, C1, YR15, B12, R27, E31, RV02, E37

In Sympathy

I needed another sympathy card this week. So I went to my go to stamps - flowers.

The image is from Doodle Pantry called Sweet Pea. I used the pre-colored image but I colored in the background. It's a bit difficult to see in the picture but the background looks marbleized and it looked really pretty. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and cut out with Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio. The image is behind a negative circle die cut and then I made the frame from the two circle dies. The background paper is from the Paper Studio.
Don't forget to check out the Doodle Pantry challenge #38. Just for playing along you get the free set called Jingle Ants. You won;t want to miss this one. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your week is off to a great start!

For the Birthday Girl

Later this week, Tom and I are flying to Boston to see our son Dan. We'll be spending a long weekend there and visiting. So by the time we get back it would be a little late to send his sister's birthday card so I needed it finished before we left.  So here's what I came up with.

This image is from Sassy Studio Designs. I colored it with Copic and Bic markers. The tartan paper is a digital paper but I neglected to add where I got the paper to my file. The inside of the card says: It's Your Birthday. Let's celebrate! I added some black and white twine. Spellbinders Lacey Squares backs the image.

I am entering these challenges:
Hope you have a wonderful start to your week. Hope it's cooler wherever you are.

Watching Football It's Baaack!

About the only thing I really watch on TV is football and I am so glad the season is back. And my Colts just scored their first touch down after an interception. I'm lovin' it. Go Colts! So while I am watching I thought I would post a card I made this week. I needed several sympathy cards this week. This is one of them.

I saw a card similar to this one this week but I didn't write down where. So I kind of cased this card. It's pretty simple. The image is from Beccy's Place and the sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations. I rounded the corners and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye trying to bring out the browns in the image. The background paper is embossed with the Victoria embossing folder. I added the twine as an embellishment.
I am entering this card into these challenges:
Hope you are having an awesome Sunday. Thanks for stopping by. Go Colts!

September at DoodlePantry

This is a bitter sweet post for me. This begins my last month on the Doodle Pantry design team. The last year and a half has been so awesome and I want to publicly thank Laurie and all the great women of the design team that have become so special to me. Thank you for the fun and the opportunity to be a part of an awesome groups and the fun using the amazing images that Laurie draws every month. So on to the awesome release!

This new stamp set is called Magi. I used the pre-colored images but there are also outline images, papers and a variety of sentiments. All the papers used comes with the set as does the sentiment used. I added the orange ribbon and used Grape Stickles as accents. I'll be making 25 of these as a gift to my mother-in-law to use as her Christmas cards this year.
I am also entering this card into these challenges:
My second card uses another new set  called Pumpkin.
This set is free with any purchase between September 5 -24, 2013. This again is the pre-colored image. I cut the image out with a Spellbinders Lacey circle die and inked the embossed edges Since I used the negative die cut for an earlier OWH card, I decided to try the technique with a tag die and then add the sentiment in the negative die area. This sentiment is not from the set but all the papers are from the set. I just love the leafy green paper. I added some orange twine to finish off the card.

I am entering this card into these challenges:
Don't forget to join in the challenge at Doodle Pantry blog at noon today. Participate in the challenge by using any Doodle Pantry image and you will receive another free image set. This time it's Jingle Ants. Please check out the rest of the desing teams wonderful samples.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you'll play along with us at Doodle Pantry.

Playing Along with OWH

You may have noticed that I was a hostess for one of the OWH challenges but being out of town most of the weekend and having a very busy week is not conducive to being able to play along with the challenges. I thought I would play this evening but my daughter called and asked me to go shopping with her so it didn't work out. But I did squeeze one in last night and one tonight. So without further ado...
This card actually uses the OWH Sunday sketch challenge:

It's a very simple card. In hind sight I wish I had embossed the brown background piece. You know what they say, hind sight is 20:20. It's a little plainer than I intended. Any suggestions what to add to give it a bit more pizzazz? Besides OWH, I am also entering this into Beccy Place challenge. The owl image is from Beccy's Place. I just love it with the sentiment and so perfect for OWH.

My second card is for VCMP Challenge #1.

I added the one inch squares in the pattern from the sketch but decided to add the heart in the middle since I used the "You melt my heart" sentiment from a Gina K stamp set. The sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder. Then I used the snowflake embossing folder over all since it was supposed to be a winter theme. I am also entering this card in Hiding in my Craftroom challenge of freestyle.

That's it for tonight but stop back tomorrow for the newest Doodle Pantry release. It's a little later than usual but it will
be worth the wait!

OWH VCMP - Play Along

Welcome to the last challenge for the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party!

I am excited to be chosen as a hostess and hope you will play along with me. My challenge is to use a negative of a die or punch.  I've made a couple of cards for inspiration.

For this card I used Spellbinders Triple Scalloped borders and backed the die cut with a scrap of designer paper. I cut the middle section with a Spellbinders die Labels thirteen. The image placed behind the die cit is called Along the Beach by Crafting with Sue (I could no longer find a blog posting for her). I wanted to spotlight the couple so I colored them with Copics but left the background uncolored. I added the tag for the sentiment using the Hero Arts OWH stamp set. I used faux stitching around the labels thirteen to bring the attention to the image.

My second card also uses Spellbinders dies. This is a flowered stamp and die set.

I die cut the flowers and then used the die cuts stamped and embossed on the base of the card. I was going for fall colors and the olive green flower looks more like it's black in the photo but it really is olive green in real life. The sentiment is also from a Hero Arts OWH stamp set from Hobby Lobby.

So how about participating in my challenge? I have two prizes. I will pick randomly from all comments for one winner and then also pick a random card from those who participate. You have a whole week to participate. The deadline is Sunday, September 8th. I hope you'll play along!
