Sympathy

I found out today that a very dear friend lost his brother last week so I made a card for him this evening.

I used the From the Heart stamp set called Time to Bloom colored with Copics and die cut with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Square Stax. I printed and cut out some of the flowers. Soe are popped up and others are flat. I die cut some Spellbinder Foliage leaves and used Mowed Lawn distress ink to give them some contrast. The background is embossed with the Leafy Branch embossing folder. I embellished with 2 thin stirps die cut with the MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. The butterfly (also colored with Copics) and the sentiment is from the Time to Bloom stamp set. I used the I {heart} sketches with a Twist.
The twist this week is show off your coloring skills. My skills aren't great but I thought it turned out fairly nice.

Hope your week is off to a great start. Thanks for stopping by. I have a bunch to do this week as I have to give training this weekend for our Girl Scout Day Camp. I was up this morning at 4:15am because I thought of a new craft and had to make it. Man, I hope that doesn't happen every night this week or I will definitely be sleep deprived by the end of the week. LOL! Have a super tomorrow.

Anything But a Card

Happy Monday! I made a quick project for the Bugaboo Anything But a Card Monday. This is a cute little Christmas Ornament Made with Bugaboo Stamp's Rudolph.

The ornament is made from a ribbon spool with one side removed. I nested some designer paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles on the inside of the spool and the colored and fussy cut Rudolph to sit on top of the designer paper. The edges of the spool are also covered with designer paper and then I embellished with some die cut Spellbinder's Foliage. Pretty easy peasy and oh so fun to get some of these done ahead of time. They make great little things to add to your wrapped packages too. Hop on over to the Catch the Bug blog to see all the fun projects from the design team.
Have an awesome week!

Last Minute Cards

I don't know where the time goes these days. But I have two cards today for challenges that are about to close. One of these days I won't be always working at the last minute. LOL! Both of these cards are CAS and both are made with recycled materials. First up is the progressive challenge at The Outlawz.

This image is called Fifi from Ppinkydollsart. I colored her with Copics and die cut the image with Spellbinder's Circles and inked with Picked Raspberry distress ink.. Just love her ig eyes. The background paper is actually a bunch of scraps that I had left over and glued together to make a background paper. I added a sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday sentiments set and die cut with Spellbinders Conversation Bubbles 4 and popped it up from the card base. I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I am entering these challenges:
My second card is for the I {heart} sketches with a twist challenge #153. This week I only used the twist: to fussy cut the image.

The image is Apple Blossom Birds at From the Heart Stamps. I colored the image twice with Copic Markers and fussy cut the entire image for one and just the flowers for the second. They I popped up the flowers as a decoupage effect. The background paper is left over wall paper from a Girl Scout project. It looks very much like it's water colored. For this card I used the sketch at Less Is More.

You're Smokin'

Happy Sunday and a new CAS challenge over at The Outlawz. This week we are celebrating National BBQ Month. So your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is to make a CAS card that features your favorite BBQ food. Here's my card:

The images and sentiment are from the Summer BBQ stamp set from Imagine That! Digis by Kris. I used the pre-colored images and fussy cut them out. The little griller is popped off the page. I  inked the clouds with Salty Ocean distress ink. The sentiment is die cut with MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. I added several metallic stars as embellishments. I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration.

I hope you will join us this week at the Outlawz CAS challenge and show us your BBQ food.

Rudolph Days!

Happy Friday! So glad it's the weekend. I took today off as a vacation day. So I have a 4 day weekend. I've been to the grocery store already. We are waiting on our cistern to be delivered. It was supposed to be here yesterday but something delayed it. So we are hoping today is the day! The weather has been muggy and rainy here. More rain today and tomorrow. So, to make me think of cooler weather I tried out a Christmas card. LOL!

I used a gorgeous Christmas ornament set from Imagine That! Digis by Kris called Elegant Ornaments. I used the sketch from Imagine That! Creative Playground.

The card base is black and the background is a piece of leftover wall paper. I die cut the Elegant Ornament with Spellbinder's Beaded Ovals ad inked the beads with Broken China distress ink. I die cut a sentiment from the same set with Gina Marie Designs Stitched Diamonds and then inked the die cut with Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio distress inks to kind of match the wall paper. The black border in the background is a self-adhesive border that I found in my stash. To finish it off I used Basic Grey paper to make the side embellishments punched with a Stampin' Up! tab punch. I really like this one.
I am entering these challenges:

That's it for me today. We'll be heading out to Baby Creek and my Internet will be gone. Hope you all have a marvelous weekend. Happy Memorial Day to my US friends. Please remember all those who have sacrificed everything to keep us free,

Beautiful Butterfly

Happy Friday! Raining here but I hope it's sunny where you are. Today I have a card for another Bugaboo Friday Freebie. You can get this image free this week. How fun is that!

This was an easy peasy card! I printed out the sentiment and butterfly. I die cut the sentiment with Spellbinder's Lattice Frames and then sprayed the frame with glimmer mist. The card has a very pretty sheen that can't been seen in the picture. The butterfly was distressed inked with several colors of distress inky and then popped up off the card. And then I added that to a card base. I hope you'll stop at the Catch the Bug blog and check out all the amazing design team's work. And don't forget to pick up your freebie.

I spent most of the evening fielding phone calls and texts. My son proposed to the love of his life this evening. Congrats to Dan and Meaghan. Another wedding in our future. Looking forward to that celebration.

BBQ Envelope Card

Happy Tuesday! Yesterday was a gorgeous day. I think today will be our last nice day before the rain moves in. Not looking forward to 4 days of rain. I have a really fun card today. Given this weekend is Memorial Day and the Indy 500 is running, it's time to break out the BBQ!

All the images for this card come from the Summer BBQ set from Imagine That! Digis by Kris. It was such fun to create this scene. I used the pre-colored images from the stamp set and I fussy cut every one of them. Took a while to cut them all out. The card is an envelope card and I followed the tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. The clouds are die cut from Spellbinder's Conversation Bubbles 4 and the grass was cut from Simon Says Stitched Hills and Slopes dies.

This is a top view f the card when it's open. And when you get ready to close the card it looks like this.

And the card totally closed can be addressed and mailed if your embellishments aren't too bulky.

If you flip this over you can address the other side. This was such fun to create. I'm going to send this to our nephew for his birthday. He loves to grill so I think he'll appreciate it.
Today my card is featured over at Imagine That! Creative Playground. I hope you'll check out the other awesome guest designer cards.

Sunday CAS

It's Sunday once again. These weeks are just flying by. Time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz CAS. This week our theme is wine! It was really my week to take a break but I couldn't resist this challenge.

My image and sentiment is from a set called Wine Diva from Art Impressions. I paper pieced the chair and her dress and ear rings. The rest I colored with Copic markers. The sentiment I cut from the same scrap that I used to paper piece her dress using Spellbinders Conversation Bubbles. This will be my "older" sister's birthday card next month. LOL!

I hope your weekend has been wonderful. We finally got a really nice day today. I am hoping it will last for a while. Take care!

Bingo Time

Happy Saturday! It's time for a new challenge at Catch the Bug challenge blog and this week we get to play bingo!
I used the middle column for my card: Bugaboo Image/tag/die cut. And I went with a Christmas theme.

The image is Elephant Christmas Tree. I colored him with Copic markers and used Crystal Stickles to add some glitter to the image. I die cut the image with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Corner Squares. The backing card stock for the image is also cut with a larger die in that set. The cute String of lights Paper is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  The green card stock tag is cut from MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. I used my MISTI to position the sentiment that's from an old Flourishes Christmas set called Christmas Music. Unfortunately Flourishes is not long in business. There is also a tag hanging from the present behind the Christmas tree just in case you don't think my flag counts as a tag. LOL!I hope you'll play along this week. Such a fun challenge and surprisingly easy to make a card with one of the rows or columns. I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch as my inspiration.

Bugaboo Friday Freebie

Who doesn't like free digital stamps? Every week Bugaboo has a free digi and this week it was my honor to craft with this cutie!

That cute little monster is the freebie today at Bugaboo Stamps. I used a variety of layers to create this cute card, mostly from my scrap box. I die cut the image with a Spellbinder's rectangle die. The sentiment is from Create with TLC. And I found that blue ric rac quite by accident. It's a self-adhesive tape. I thought it fit perfectly. I hope you'll hop on over to the Catch the Bug blog to see all the creations with this cute little guy. The design team always does an amazing job and I am honored to be the guest designer this month!

Sealed With All My Love

It's almost the weekend! Woot! It's been a really busy week at work and I am so looking forward to the weekend to unwind. Tonight I have a quick and easy card that I made from things I had lying around.

This seal image and sentiment is from Doodle Pantry called With Heart. I had printed off the pre-colored image some time ago and die cut it with Spellbinder's Circles. I backed that with Spellbinder's Heart Circles in red card stock. The background paper is recycled wall paper. It has a really nice gray weave pattern to it. And then I found this red doily tape in my stash that I didn't even know I had. Perfect for this card. The heart has a coating of Wink of Stella for a little sparkle. The card base is white card stock with a layer of gray behind the wall paper. A nice quick easy card. I used the Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch as inspiration.

I am entering these challenges:

That's it for tonight. My FIL will be visiting this weekend so I'll have a couple of scheduled posts for you. I'm hoping to get some crafty time in too. Have a wonderful Friday!!!

Hogs and Kisses

What a week! Work is busy and I have a bunch of design team things I'm trying to pull together for later this week and next. It just seems there isn't enough time in the week anymore. Girl Scout Day Camp and training for that is creeping up on me too, so I really need to get a move on, big time!
So here's a quickie tonight that I finished. This is for the I {heart} sketches with a Twist # 152 challenge. I didn't do the sketch this time although it kind of resembles it. But I did do the twist: enlarge and crop the digi.

The digital stamp is the Stamp of the Month called Hamlet Pigwit in the Planter at From the Heart Digital Stamps. I colored the image with Copics and then cropped it using MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Square Stax. I backed that with a light green card stock. The floral print paper is a scrap from my scrap box, probably from the Paper Studio. The floral is backed with orange card stock. I created a banner with a sentiment from the same stamp set and inked it with Picked Raspberry distress ink. The banner is die cut from MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags
I am entering these challenges:
We finished up interviewing yesterday and they will be offering someone the position for my job. In some ways I'll miss it but I do think the twins will be keeping me busy. And I'll still be working part time until they arrive. Happy midweek. Where is the time going? Have a super Thursday!

Just Be Me

Happy rainy and chilly Tuesday. I so want to see some sunshine and warmer temperatures soon. In a moment of weakness today I agreed that I'd work another month at my 30 hours a week. What was I thinking? So I'll move to 15 hours a week on July 1st instead of June 1st. But I'll probably take some vacation time in June. I have over 200 hours of vacation to use. But they will pay me for what I don't use. So all will be good!

Here's another card that I really love. The image is from Beccy's Place called Bear With Me. I love the sentiment but I can't remember where I got it. I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder and inked the Spellbinder's Labels 13 with Rusty Hinge distress ink. Popped the adorable pre-colored bears and finished it off with three self-adhesive square rhinestones. The background is a dark brown with an animal print paper over the top. What a great sentiment. If you know where it's from I'd love to give credit.
I am entering these challenges:
Thanks for all the lovely comments on my post yesterday about our upcoming additions to our family. I am still kind of in shock. And I guess it will be more of a shock when the twins are born and we have to figure out how to deal with 2 at one time. LOL! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

A Little Miracle, I Hope

Last Friday I had the opportunity and the honor to go with my daughter and son-in-law to the doctor as they had their first visit since she found out she was pregnant again. Some of you may remember we lost their first child last November. So when she got pregnant again of course we are being cautiously optimistic that this child will not have the same problem as out little Alexander did. So Friday we got to see the sonogram and our first peek had our mouths dropping open. Tricia is carrying twins. Oh my! One child will turn their lives upside down and two will put them in a tail spin. I've never had twins but I know how much work one child is at a time. I can't imagine two. It's a little too early to tell if there are any genetic abnormalities but as soon as the 20 weeks comes I'm sure they will be testing given her history. She's at 14+ weeks right now. So I made her this card last night to kind of celebrate.

I used a retired Gina K set called Wee Tees. The sentiment and the lady bug and car are from the same set. I framed them with Spellbinder's Edge Frames. And the little car and lady bug are die cut with Spellbinder's Heart Circles. I paper pieced the onesies with my MISTI.
I am entering these challenges:
With the news of the twins I am thinking I may have to retire a bit earlier than expected. Tricia's due date is November 11th. But with twins I doubt they wait that long. And she delivered Alex two months early. So I'll discuss this with my boss when I go back to work tomorrow. But I doubt that I work until December like I thought I would. We are just hoping and praying for happy, healthy babies right now. Thanks for stopping by today for my news. Make it a wonderful week!

Special Delivery

Back for another round today. We spent the weekend out at Baby Creek so I got some crafting time in. This one is a Christmas card.

The image is Special Delivery Snowman at From the Heart Stamps. I colored him with Copics to try to match the scrap that I found in my scrap box. I wanted to make something colorful. While cleaning up I found this self-adhesive red border tape and thought it would make a fun addition to this card. It all glittery! The base is white card stock with a blue card stock background for the image. Both the image and the background are die cut with MFT’s Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares Stax. I used the sketch from I {heart} Sketches with a Twist for inspiration. I also used the twist which was to hand-write a sentiment. I’m not the best at handwriting so I usually don’t try that myself. LOL!
I am entering these challenges:
It's been a busy weekend. Our refrigerator conked out at Baby Creek so we had to buy a new refrigerator on Friday. It was delivered yesterday. My hubby forgot to measure for height so we bought one that was too tall for the place it needed to sit. So he had to tear out two cabinets in order to get it into it's place. But I love the new frig. It's so much bigger than the old one. And it works!!! It has an ice maker but we still don't have water there since the cistern leaked and we lost all the water. Our new cistern is on order so hopefully it will be here soon so we can restore the water out there. We've been heating water for dishes and washing up. And only using water out of jugs. Hopefully we'll soon be back to normal out there. I have some other news to share but I have to make a card for someone before I share that news.  Have an awesome week.

New CAS at The Outlawz

Happy Sunday! Ning has been having problems lately and we weren’t able to load the new challenge at The Outlawz CAS this morning. It finally got posted late this afternoon. Today begins the new challenge and since May is the month for Mother’s Day we are honoring a special woman in our lives. So you could make a Mother’s Day card if you so choose but it doesn’t have to be just for Mother’s Day. I chose to make a card for a special friend.

I won a Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin Kit in April and this lovely flower set and sentiment came with the kit. I loved that it was a two stepped stamp. I think those really give more depth to the image. So I stamped each of the flowers in two tones. I used these distress inks: Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn and Momento Black for the sentiment. I used my Misti for placement. Best investment I ever made. I tried doing it first by hand and had to throw the paper away. I placed the inked white card stock on a purple card base.
I hope you’ll join us in honoring s woman in your life this week with a CAS card. Think of the smile you will put on her face. Come show us you CAS card.

New Challenge at Catch the Bug

Happy Saturday! This is a scheduled post as I am out of town. So hopefully this will go off without a hitch. I'll update links as soon as I can. Today begins a new challenge at Catch the Bug challenge blog. And this week we have another easy peasy challenge: Flowers galore!

I used Flower Pocket #7 image from Bugaboo Stamps. The image is colored with Copic and Bic markers. The image was die cut with Gina Marie Designs Wine Label dies. And I did a little faux stitching. The background card stock is embossed with the Flourishes embossing folder. I finished it off by using glossy accents on the flowers. I hope you'll hope on over the Catch the Bug and check out the inspiration from all the design team and then play along with us. They always have such wonderful prizes with 3 chances to win.

Soldier Sam

Today is the new release day over at Imagine That! ...digis by Kris. I had the pleasure of working with a set called Soldier Sam. Since I have two brothers and a sister, not to mention a host of in-laws who were in the military, I thought I could get a start on my Veteran's Day cards.

The image of soldier Sam is a pre-colored image and I die cut him from Gina Marie Cross Stitched Rectangle dies. The brown background is embossed with the Distressed Stripes embossing folder. The cammo paper is from Cute and Useful. I added a sentiment from the Soldier Sam set and die cut it with MFT's Pierced Fishtail Flags. And as a final embellishment I added the heart flag from Designed 2 Delight (now From the Heart Stamps).

Check out the new release at Imagine That! Creative Playground and you could win one of the new sets. Just leave a comment. Easy peasy!

Thinking of You

Happy stormy Wednesday night! The day was very nice. The first day this week that it didn't rain most of the day but tonight the storms are heading for us once more. We did get our tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and cucumbers in so I'm glad to have those out of our living room window. And we fenced them for the first time, hoping that it might deter the deer from eating everything.
I REALLY like the card I made tonight. I love inked backgrounds. I think they are just beautiful and I am so envious of those who do it so well. I'm still learning and need more practice. But here's a card with an inked background; one of my favorite techniques.

I just love this cute little dog image from the Dog Tales set at  Beccy's Place. I used the pre-colored image. I paired him with a sentiment that I printed off long ago so I'm not sure which company it's from. I'm going to have to be more careful when I print these digis. I used the Simon Says Stitched Slopes and Hills die to cut out the sentiment. Then I popped up the cute pup with Scotch foam tape.
I masked the moon off first and then inked the background with Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers distress ink. Then I masked the background and inked the moon with Scattered Straw distress ink. I think it's adorable! I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch as inspiration:

Well, I am going to sign off as the storm is getting worse and I'm afraid the electric will go out. It might be early to bed tonight. I'll catch you later!

Welcome back! If you are looking for my Bugaboo post from this morning please scroll down. This post is a card that I made for my daughter who needed a graduation card.

The image is grad girl from Graduation Day from Imagine That!... digis by Kris. The blue background paper is from my scrap box. The rose paper is from Leesa's Tulips. I die cut the image with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Squares and inked it with Picked Raspberry distress ink. The sentiment circle is also from the graduation stamp set and popped up with Scotch Mounting Tape. I backed the layers with black card stock to make them pop the colors. I finish it off I added some Zva rhinestones. I hope you will check out all the guest designer creations over at the Imagine That! Creative Playground blog.

Bugaboo New Release

Happy Tuesday! I will have two posts today: one this morning and one scheduled for later this afternoon. Today is new release day at Bugaboo and Jodie has created a real cutie for you.

This is Ladybug Sunbonnet. I colored her with Copic markers and die cut the image from a Quickcutz Tag and the inked the background with Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean distress ink. (I think I am getting better at inking backgrounds.) I love the little scene. I used MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags to add the sentiment from Stampin' Up! from the retired Grateful Greeting Sentiments.  I am into plaids lately too. This piece was in my scrap box and I couldn't find the source. I'd love to give credit. And to finish off I added some Collections self-adhesive rhinestones. Check out the Catch the Bug challenge blog to see all the fun designs by the design team.

Nurses' Week

Happy Mother's Day! If you are a mother I wish you all the best today. May your kids remember you today. So far I've heard from two of my three. My daughter and SIL gave me a dozen roses earlier this week and then announced that she will be a new Mom also. We are cautiously optimistic.  We lost her first son last November after birth. We are praying for a healthy baby this time around. My youngest son sent me a set of Yankee Candles. They smell so good. I;m waiting to hear from my middle boy. He'll probably call sometime today.
The new challenge is up and running at The Outlawz CAS challenge. This week is Nurses week and our hostess, Deb, is a nurse. So she picked get well cards for us as the challenge.

I used the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday. The image is this week's Friday Freebie at Bugaboo called Nurse - Get Better. So hop on over to get this free digi this week. The background paper is from Create with TLC. I loved the mixture of colors and the textured feel it has. Then I tried to match some of the more subtle colors of the background with the other elements. I colored the nurse with Bic markers. Die cut her using the Spellbinder's Hearts and inked the inside using Seedless Preserves distress ink. The BandAid sentiment was a freebie from Stamping with Gail. She hasn't updated her blog recently.

I hope you will join us for this get well CAS challenge at The Outlawz. The design team really made some great cards! Our prize this time is an envelope full of crafting goodies. Lots of fun new things to use.

Just Beecause

The rain seems to have passed for now and we just have cloudy skies. I do believe there is more coming. It was supposed to be rainy all weekend. I have another card to share.

Faith has a Friday Freebie over at the From the Heart Stamp Community blog. It's an adorable Birdbrain image. I just love him! I don't know how long he will be free so make sure to hurry over there and download the set. I used the sketch for this week at I {heart} sketches with a twist #150.

The twist is to use a button or a bow. I had some ribbon but didn't make a bow so I missed the twist. I colored Birdbrain with Copics. I found some scraps in my scrap box and backed them with black card stock to make the colors pop. I cut the image with MFT Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Corner Squares (do I love those dies, or what) and backed that with black card stock too. Tp finish off I used the flower ribbon to add some texture. I really like the way this one came out.
So I am entering these challenges:
That's all for today! I am off with my hubby to have dinner and play bridge with some friends. Just relaxing and sharing good times. Hope your weekend is fun and relaxing!

Tea Time

Happy rainy, dreary Saturday! The perfect day to stay in and craft! I did go out for a walk earlier today. Right now it's nasty and raining. I'm having difficulty keeping all my design teams straight and when I post for who. I'm going to have to  keep a notebook to get myself together and remember what gets posted and when. So today there is a new challenge up at Catch the Bug. It's really an easy peasy one. Anything Goes! My favorite kind of challenge.

I used a recent release from Jodie at Bugaboo Stamps called Tea Time - Tea Cup. I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Wink of Stella along the cup stripe, the heart, and the outside of the tea bag. I die cut the image with MFT Inside and Out Rounded Stitched Corner Square Stax. The border is a Martha Stewart Swirling Lace punch. I die cut the hello sentiment (from Simon Says Stamps). The blue papers are scraps from my scrap box and the bottom section is actually recycled from a Kleenex box. I added a few sequins to complete the card. I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch as inspiration.

I hope you will join us over at Catch the Bug challenge. You don't need to use a Bugaboo stamp but if you do you can win even more stamps. And there is always a freebie on Friday. Tomorrow I'll have a card using this week's Friday Freebie. And don't forget about the huge sale that's going on over at Bugaboo. This one is hard to pass up!

I am entering these challenges:

Thanks for stopping by today. I'll likely be back with another card shortly! Happy National Scrapbooking Day.

Bugaboo Guest Designer

I have such exciting news today. For the months of May, June, and July, I will be guest designing with Bugaboo Stamps. Jodi creates such wonderful and diverse stamps. You can find something for every occasion at Bugaboo. My first project is for a new release. Let me tell you I fell in love with the image the first time I saw it. It's totally adorable! Check this out.

The image is Flower Teddy. I colored the image with Copic markers and die cut it with Lawn Fawn's Banner dies to make this a tag. I used Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn distress ink to give it a scene-like quality. And I added a ribbon for embellishment. Isn't it too cute!  I love the flowers and the bear. So easy and fun to color.
I am entering these challenges:

I am super excited to be working with the amazing designers over at Bugaboo Stamps. I hope you'll join me for the next few months to see what I come up with. Want some fun new images? Check out the sale at Bugaboo.
