Day 9: Hearts and Hippo

Happy Monday evening! Our chipping day is complete and so glad it's done. Six hours of chipping branches, weeds, leaves and anything else that the neighbors had chopped down. My bruises are starting to appear already. I bruise easily so getting smacked with branches all day will make me bruise. Really glad that's behind us and it may be early to be tonight. We couldn't pick up the chipper until 9 AM so after breakfast I started making my "H" card and had all the pieces but didn't get it put together until this evening.

While I was looking for something else I ran into this Beccy's Place stamp set that was in my files called Wild About You. I knew I was going to use the hearts for this card but when I saw the hippo I thought it was perfect. I colored the image and the heart with Spectrum Noir and American Craft markers. Die cut the hippo with Gina Marie Designs Wonky Stitched Ovals. I backed each of the layers with black card stock. The designer paper is from my stash. I popped up the heart with foam tape. The finishing touch are the three self-adhesive gem stones.

There's a little story that comes with this card. I made this card for my grandson, Arthur. Before Valerie started to talk Arthur talked for her and when she finally started to talk, her first word was "yucky." We sang the "Wheels on the Bus" song and Valerie said "yucky, yucky, yucky." But Arthur would say "rock, rock, rock" as his word in the song because he loves to throw rocks into our pond. So when I saw the "You Rock" on the heart I thought this should be Arthur's card. I doubt I will find too many hearts that say "yucky" on them. LOL!

I am entering these challenges:

That's it for me tonight. I am really tired after our busy day. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and healthy and God bless!

I love your interpretation of the sketch Donna, especially the little heart in place of the circle. The colours are so bright and fabulous, perfect for a Valentine's day card! I'm sure Arthur will love the sentiment.
Cheers,
Beccy

You must be so glad to have finished the chipping. I hope you aren't too sore and that you are still able to have some time crafting. I like the vivid pinks on this card and of course the image is adorable.

Cute story! I hope you wouldn't find a "yucky" candy heart. Great card!
