Spring Card Class Day 14

Happy weekend! For some of us, this quarantine is a continuous weekend. I have a difficult time remembering what day it is because they all seem to be about the same. Had fun with the twins yesterday. The weather was nice and we spent most of the day outside. They don;t want to take naps anymore so they were tired when we took them home. We bought them tricycles so they are trying to learn how to ride them. Let's just say they aren't used to peddling yet. That will come in time.
Yesterday's instructor at Spring Card Class was Laura Bassen. She showed us some techniques using alphabet dies.

I only have one alphabet die and it's all lower case. While it would have worked for the techniques I decided to just try the MFT You Trio die. Since my "word" was only 3 letters long I made my cards four and a quarter inches square.

So I die cut the YOU from 2 pieces of 4 inch square card stock. The first negative I used scrap pieces of paper to fill in the negative. I added a black card stock backing and heat embossed a sentiment form MFT All About You stamp set. I used sequins to add some embellishments. I'd never seen anyone cut a sequin in half but Laura had this idea to tuck half a sequin into a letter, so I tried that out.

With the second negative I ink blended a piece of scrap paper to go behind the die cut letters. I used Distress Oxide inks: Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, and Seedless Preserves. The top sentiment is from MFT All About You. The bottom sentiment is from Hero Arts It's Your Day. After I had inked the scrap for the letters I used MFT Chunky Herringbone stencil to add some interest to the background.I really meant to leave some space between the background and the word You but I guess I got carried away. LOL!

I made 2 of this card so I actually have 4 cards for today. Using scraps from my pink scrap folder I created overlapping pieces glued to my card. I die cut glitter paper with about half of the YOU and then glued them to the bottom of the word to accent it. I just added the top sentiment, another of the sentiments from MFT All About You stamp set.
That's my cards for Day 14. I like this set a lot. The class is lots of and has increased my stash a lot. I am entering these challenges:

I have another set of cards ready if I get them photographed this evening. Maybe they will get posted tonight or tomorrow. Not sure. Enjoy your weekend. Be safe and stay healthy!
