Greetings! I hope you are all well and safe at home washing your hands. I can't believe it's almost been a whole week since I posted. We've been busy though. Our volunteering nature hasn't left us so we took on cleaning up an elderly neighbors back yard of overgrown brush. We worked at least 4 days just cutting and hauling it away. Thursday Tom is renting a stump grinder and we'll be grinding out tree stumps. There are stumps in three different yards so that will be an all day project.
Since my motivation to make cards has been lacking lately I decided to take an online card class in hopes of getting back to "normal." The class is on Online Card Classes called Spring Card Camp. The class runs from April 11 - 30th. The techniques that they teach will net at least 2 cards each sometimes more. So my cards today use the technique that Jennifer McGuire taught us last Saturday. I finally got some time today and I have to say that things didn't go as I had hoped. The idea was to make a faux embossing folder by heat embossing an image up to 10 times and then using that heat embossed image as your faux embossing folder. What I learned from this lesson was that I am an impatient crafter and heat embossing is NOT my favorite technique. LOL!
This card uses the original heat embossed piece. I used a Gina K Arranged With Love. My impatience with the technique made me quit embossing after 6 layers. It looked quite raised to me. So I tried embossing with the heat embossed image and had varying results. Some papers didn't emboss at all. Other embossed pretty well. So after trying to emboss several different papers I heard "crack." And one of my plates is no longer usable. Bummer on the first day! You can't really see it in this picture but it actually cracked the embossing on the picture. Have you ever done the cracked glass technique. That's what this looks like so I went ahead and used this one on a card. Using Distress Oxide inks I inked different areas of the embossing. Then I used black card stock to help the colors pop and the base is kraft card stock. Here's my second card"
Using the above image I embossed on white card stock and then used Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to ink the debossed side of the image. Both sentiments used are from the Arranged With Love stamp set. So one to day two and hopefully a little better results. I am entering these cards in Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge: E is for embossing.
Have a safe and productive week. My prayers are with you all!
Donna
