Happy Leap Day

I can hardly believe we are at the end of February. Time just keeps moving on. Still no word on a new position for me. Today I spent most of the day on a ladder moving books full of reports to a lower shelves for packing. At least I wasn't sitting at my computer all day. My card tonight uses another gorgeous Doodle Pantry image. I just love this image.
The sentiments are from an My Favorite Things set called Love You With All My Heart. I used my ScorPal to add the criss-cross embossing on the background panel. I used the Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circle dies and added lace and pearls as embellishments. The background scalloped circle looks much darker in the photo than in real life. I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Hope your week is going smoothly. Tom and I decided to take Friday off of work and  go to Baby Creek for some R&R. It's supposed to be 70 degrees on Friday. Is this February/March or May/June? Weird weather. Have a wonderful Thursday and stop back to see some more awesome Doodle Pantry images as we check out the March release.

Roses are Pink

At least they are today on my card!
I used the technique that Gina K had a video of this week: paper piecing the flowers outside the oval shape. Very easy and super fun. The image and sentiment is from a Year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. I used the Spellbinders oval and scalloped oval dies and a lattice punch. The oval is popped off the background with pop dots. The popped up flowers are a combination of punched flowers and some I cut on my Cricut. I entering this card in a few challenges:
For those of you following my work reorganization: seven people were reassigned yesterday but not me. Two people from my area were reassigned and I was their back up so all of there work when they leave will fall back to me. My boss also asked me to be in charge of the move yesterday (not only are we reorganizing but we are also moving out of our present location). I see busy days ahead and still no clarity as to where I'll be going. So the frustration continues.
Hope your week is progressing nicely. Rain coming in tonight but I think we are supposed to be in the 60s this week. Isn't this end of February and beginning of March? Very odd weather for this time of year. Have a happy Wednesday.

Exciting News!

It's been a busy weekend and I did seem to accomplish a lot but there was so much on my list that I couldn't possibly get it all done. But I am grateful for what I did accomplish. We spent Friday evening and all day Saturday at Baby Creek, our little retreat place to get away from it all. Today I had to go get glasses to use up my Tax Saver Benefit that I will lose at the end of February. So I'll be getting two new pair of glasses soon. I did get a few cards done today and I can share one with a bit of exciting news. On a whim I sent in a link to apply for the Doodle Pantry Design Team and last week Laurie from the Doodle Pantry contacted me and asked me to be part of the team. Wow! I was stunned. I never expected to be selected. So for the next 6 months I'll be showing you some of Laurie's wonderful creations and I hope you will go check them out! Here's a card I made to celebrate my new Design Team.

The image is a freebie that you can find at Doodle Pantry. Laurie has both colored and outlined digital stamps. This one is one of the colored ones. I used the sketch from Sketches by Carly. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up! And I added self-adhesive rhinestones. Thanks for stopping to by to check out my big news. Come back on March 1st to see my very first design team project. (maybe even two projects for the new release). I hope you have a wonderful week.

Every-Buggy

We've had fairly nice weather the past few days but it's coming to an end tonight. Possible snow tomorrow but not much. Early this morning we had a bizarre incident. I woke up at 2am and there were lots of lights flashing outside our house. Two fire engines, three police cars and a wrecker. We live near a sharp turn in the road and someone missed the turn and hit a tree in the neighbor's yard. But they left the car there and took off. We don't know if the car was stolen or not. They pulled the car out about 2:45 am and we could go back to bed. So loss of sleep is catching up to me today.

My card tonight is for a co-workers birthday. I took it to work earlier this week so that "every-buggy" could sign it. Hehehe!

I can't remember where I found the adorable sentiment. It was a recent freebie. I try to remember to add the blog that I got them from but I missed this one. If you happen to know, please let me know so I can give credit. The bugs are from a set called Gettin' Buggy With It! It came from Gina K but I don't think she carries it anymore. The set was perfect for the sentiment. I used the Floral Garden embossing folder and cut the sentiment with the inverted scalloped circle die. I sponged the embossed background with green and pink ink. I'm entering the card into several challenges:
I hope you are looking forward to the weekend as much as I am. Friday at 5p.m. is my favorite time of the week. Still no answers about where I will be moving to in the reorganization at work. Everyone is very frustrated. At the meeting yesterday  they said it might be a month before they give us directions. I'm praying it's sooner. Hope you have a wonderfully crafty weekend! Take care.

My First Shaker Card

Tonight I made my very first shaker card. I think I need some practice but I'm not too terribly disappointed in my  first attempt.
The image and sentiment are from Doodle Pantry. I used my argyle embossing folder for the background and added an argyle patterned ribbon and self-adhesive rhinestones. The scalloped circle frame is cut from Spellbinders dies and the image is cut from a circle die. I love the adorable little birdhouse with all the friends gathered for a party. I'm entering the card into these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today. I'm looking forward to the weekend. It can't come fast enough! Happy Wednesday!

Sympathy

Over the weekend we had a death in my husband's family. And I had to make a sympathy card. Not my favorite card to make but I was happy with the way this card turned out.
The images are Fairytale Butterflies from TLC. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and the branch is from my newest purchase (over the weekend) of Spellbinder's Foliage dies. The embossing folder I used was Cuttlebug Victoria. The butterflies are popped up from the background. I'm entering this card into Outlawz Sunday challenge using an animal or animal print. Hope your Monday has been wonderful and the rest of your week will be terrific too! I have a fun card tomorrow so I hope you'll stop back!

I Love my Teddy Bear

Almost past my bed time so I'm going to make this a quick one. Here's the card I made this evening.

The image and the sentiment are from Doodle Pantry. I really love the ribbon with the brown bursts and blue swirls. I'm entering this into a couple challenges.
Tomorrow is Friday! Yippee! I love Friday at 5pm. We're going to be traveling this weekend to visit Tom's parents but I should be home on Sunday and hope to have some time to craft then. Have a wonderful start to your weekend and thanks for visiting!

First Signs of Spring

Happy Valentines Day! I wish it had been light enough to take a picture this morning before I left for work. The trees were beautiful with snow. We had about an inch over night but it wasn't enough to stop anything from going on today. All the schools kids were hoping for a two hour delay but they didn't get that either. The landscape was beautiful; but by noon time it was melting away. And to show you how crazy our weather is in Indiana we are supposed to have heavy rain and thunder storms tomorrow. As they say in Indiana: "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change." But for my card today I was wishing for those first signs of spring. I made this card for Joan's Garden challenge.
The challenge:
  • create a spring card
  • use the color theme of blue and white
  • use some type of lattice
  • add a bird
My embossing folder was Garden Flowers and I inked the flowers and gave them a self-adhesive rhinestone for the centers. I made the card a birthday card since three of my co-workers have a birthday in the next week. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your Valentines Day was filled with love. Tom and I left work for lunch so it was special. Tomorrow is Wednesday so I'm looking forward to being on the down side of the week. Take care!

If Friends were Flowers

Happy Monday evening! How was the start of your week? It was back to work for me. The weather wasn't too bad today; a little chilly but snow is coming in tonight and getting to work tomorrow could be a challenge. Speaking of challenges (how was that for a segue, hehe), my card this evening is for several challenges.

I've never made a water can card before. This pattern came from Waltzing Mouse Stamps and is still available free if you'd like to make one. The flowers are from Beccy's Place and the sentiment is from a Gina K stamp set. I embossed the water can with the tartan embossing folder and rubbed a darker purple ink over the embossing. So the challenges:
I hope your week has gotten off to a great start and will continue down that path. Have a wonderfully romantic Valentines Day tomorrow. Stay safe and crafty!

Valentine Hearts

Happy Sunday! I needed to get a couple of projects finished today. One of them was a valentine for my co-workers. I made these cork hearts with ribbon. Added a sentiment and some goodies and they are all set to pass out. Since they are heart shaped it was difficult to photgraph them but I think you'll get the idea.

I'm entering this into the Sunday Outlawz challenge: CAS Valentine.
Well, onto my next project on my list. Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

Happiest Birthday

We had a bit of snow last night. Just enough to make it slippery. My daughter had a job interview this morning and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this will work out. It will be lots more hours than she is getting in her present job. I didn't go to Baby Creek today. Instead I did laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and cooking. I did get some crafting time tonight but hope tomorrow gives me even more time. Here's the card I created this evening.

I don't normally use black for a birthday card but I thought it would make the pink pop. I used a Papertrey Ink digital image in the center. Spellbinders dies include large circles, hearts and scalloped hearts. I inked the edges of the heart and scalloped heart. The ribbon is pink satin. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and a pink heart brad and a green button for embellishments. I made this for two challenges:
I'm looking forward to more play time tomorrow. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for dropping into see what I've been up to. Big hugs to you all.

Love is the Key

Thursday greeting to you! It's almost Friday and I love the thought of the weekend. Tomorrow will be a busy day at work. I have a 3 1/2 hour training in the morning so I just have to make it through the afternoon. I'm looking forward to a crafty weekend. I can't believe how much time I got this week to work on crafts. I am just about Valentined (is that a word?) out and lots of challenges are still asking for love or Valentines so I took a slightly different tact. I made this card for an anniversary. Tom and I will be celebrating our 35 anniversary in June. We are talking about taking some kind of trip but haven't made any real plans yet. I guess we'll have to start doing that soon. Here's my card:
I used Spellbinders lacy ovals and regular ovals to make the frame. The sentiment is embossed with black powder. The key is from a Gina K set by Theresa Momber. The roses are from Beccy's Place. I added the pearls as embellishments. I wish the pink background would have shown up better in the photo. I'm entering the card in these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your Friday and the weekend. My daughter has an interview for a new job on Saturday so keep your fingers crossed and ask the Good Lord to help her get this. Blessing to you!

Love Sentiment

I am definitely on a roll this week with crafting. I found time to make another card tonight. I am very pleased with how this card turned out.
I think this looks so elegant. The background paper is from the Paper Studio. The rose image is from A Year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things stamp set and was embossed with black embossing powder. I cut the image out with a square Spellbinders and rounded the corners. The backing dies were Spellbinders Contemporary Hearts that I first cut out and then traced around it in red. I'm entering this in several challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today. We're on the down-side of the week, headed toward my favorite time of the week: Friday at 5 p.m. I'm always glad when work is finished for the week. I'm busy packing things up since the university is kicking up out of the building that we've been in for 30 years. (No I haven't been there for 30 years.) Still no word if I will have a job after the reorganization but I am hopeful that I'll have some kind of job; I just don't know what department or where on campus.  I'm fairly easy going about it all. Lots of people are freaking out about it. I'm thinking that if I don't have a job I'll have more time for crafting. That sounds good to me. Have a wonderful Thursday. Take care.

Thinking of You

Just a quick little card today that I wanted to send to a friend to let her know that I am thinking about her.

The image is another freebie from the Papertrey Ink digi stamps that I talked about yesterday. I think it's just so sweet. The rest is pretty easy. I used a little Zva bling and some twine. I popped up the image with pop dots. This is for the Card Patterns sketch challenge.
I think I'm going to get some more creating time this evening. Hope your Tuesday was fabulous.

Puzzling Love!

Since my Colts couldn't play in the Super Bowl, the next best thing was a Manning win. Way to go Giants! Great game and a fun time; because I got to watch but I also got to play. We had our fun little appetizer dinner (we do that twice a year: Super Bowl and Christmas Eve) and then I got to make some cards. So tonight I have two cards to share. Woo Hoo! It's been a while since I did that. My first card is all about the puzzle part of my title.

This one started out as a picture frame card but I cut the sides differently, so I made it into a puzzle instead. The image is from Designed 2 Delight. The sentiment is from Gina K. The embossing folder is Cuttlebug Victoria. This is for two challenges:
My second card is the love part of the title.

Slightly non-traditional colors for Valentines Day except for the red heart. I crocheted the heart and love making them. The LOVE image is a free image from Papertrey Ink. Their designers got together and gave away an entire page of freebies. Very cool! I also used the sketch from Sketches by Carly. The circular edges are inverted circles from Spellbinders. The embossing folder is Cuttlebug Victoria once again. The patterned paper is Basic Grey. The challenges for this card:
Thanks for stopping by today. My week got off to a pretty good start. I hope yours did too.

Candy Wrappers

Are you watching the Super Bowl. We didn't set anything up with friends so after we pigged out a bit I have some crafting time! I'm really hoping the Giants win. Since the Colts can't be in the Super Bowl I'd like to see a Manning win. Go Giants!
I got a few candy bars on a sale and wanted to spruce them up a bit to send to a couple people for Valentine's Day. Joan's Garden has a challenge this week to make a candy bar wrapper. The requirements: create one (or several) cute candy bar pouches; Be creative in using embellishments; and follow Selma's instructions. Here's my wrappers.

The cool thing about these is if you pull the bow, out comes the candy bar. Very cute design by Selma. I crocheted the hearts on two of the wrappers. I used rose petal paper for the wrap around backgrounds. The stickers are all gold cupids roses and hearts. I used a couple of stamps: the gumball machine and the banner (hard to read) says Be My Valentine. The hearts have buttons added.
Here are two of these in separate pics:
I'm entering this wrapper in the Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode I Heart You challenge. Use two or more hearts in your project.
I'm entering this wrapper into a Gina K challenge to use patterned paper.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a smashing week ahead!

Joan's Challenge

I'm coming down to the wire on this challenge. But I love doing Joan's Garden challenges because you really have to think about what you're going to make.

The requirements:
  • Create a 4.25 x 5.5 inche birthday card
  • Use pink, green and some purple
  • Distress the edges
  • Add piercing
The banner actually looks better in real life.  It pops up from the card. There is piercing at the bottom below the ribbon but you can't see it in the picture. I love the layers! Thanks for stopping by today.
