Sentiment as a Focal Point

The CAS challenge this week at the Outlawz is all about the sentiment. I hope you will join us using one of your favorite sentiments.

I used a sentiment from our sponsor this month, Fresh Brewed Designs. I cut it with a Spellbinder's frame die and inked the edges through the die. I paired it with an ice cream cone image from a Simon Says stamp set. Before I added these to my card base I misted the card with glitter spray. In real life the card really glitters but I couldn't get it to show up on the photo.

So I hope you will stop by the Outlawz CAS challenge and see what my amazing DT sistahs did this week. And then show us what your favorite sentiment is. We'd love to have you play along. Have a wonderful week!

Spring has Sprung

Well, not really weather-wise here. It didn't get out of the thirties today. It was sunny but quite chilly. The calendar says spring but Mother Nature hasn't gotten the message yet. So for my card I used a cute spring basket from From the Heart Stamps.

I used one of the images from a set called Spring Baskets (on sale right now for a limited time). I colored the image with Bic markers. I inked the background. The three patterned papers are from my scrap box. I added a flower and butterfly sticker for embellishment. I used the sketch from i {heart} Card Sketches #102. I did n't use the twist for this challenge.

Elephant Birthday

Happy Hump Day! Today was a frustrating day at work. I actually had a glass of wine when I got home. I don't do that very often. I have two half time jobs and both of them went awry today. That doesn't happen often thank goodness. So I crafted tonight to get my mind off the day.

The image is from Gerda Steiner Designs and is the stamp of the month for the Outlawz progressive challenge. I inked the background for the image. I think it's adorable. I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch.

I used scraps from my scrap box for the background pieces. The embellishments are stickers.

Thanks for stopping by and hope your day has been great! Moving toward the weekend. That makes me happy! Take care!

You're So Cool

Today I have a card that I am kind of sad about. It's my last card as a guest designer for DeeDee's digis. {sniff, sniff}. I've had a blast being her guest designer this month. I want to thank DeeDee and Kathy for being such wonderful hostesses this month. Here's my final card:

To continue my New Year's resolution to try new things I tried a twisted easel card. I found it really easy to do. I used the image called So Cool. I printed the great sentiment from the set and cut it out with Spellbinder's Labels Thirteen and distressed the edges with Simon Says ink. I colored and fussy cut the image and popped it up next ti the sentiment. I added a fun ribbon and some Studio G flowers with pearl centers. For the inside I stamped a Happy Birthday Greeting from Hero Arts, punched it out with a label punch from ekSuccess and inked the edges. I popped it up and added some additional flowers. The background designer paper is from my scrap box.

I hope you will visit DeeDee's and see all the wonderful digital stamp sets and ideas. Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your week is going well!

Oops I Forgot

I should have posted this post this morning. I have a new card on DeeDee's Stamps blog today as the guest designer. DeeDee has a progressive challenge each month. If you participate, you receive the next month set for free. So this month's set is a darling train set.

I used it for an Easter card, but you can use it for any number of occasions.

I fussy cut the train and popped it up on the background paper. The wavy paper is recycled from a Kleenex box. I did use one of sentiments from the set and I cut it apart as kind of different from what I usually do.

I am entering this card into these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by tonight. Hope your week is off to a great start!

Easter Blessings

Happy Sunday! The weekend is almost over. Today was a bit cooler than yesterday but sunny which was nice. We are eating leftovers from the shower and probably will be for several days. After everyone left this afternoon I had time for a card. This cute digital stamp set is from From the Heart Stamps and is their progressive challenge stamp set for the month for March. I think it's just adorable.

I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge for the sketch.

The image is colored with Copic markers. The marbled pink background is a scrap from my scrap box and so are the purple backing card stock I added a cute yellow and white striped ribbon and a few Studio G flowers from Michael's and then added pearls as the centers. The sentiment is heat embossed with black embossing powder and is from a Gina K set. The inside has one of the sentiments from the same set as the image. It reads: "Happy Easter. Happy Spring. Happy, Happy Everything." I love it!

I am entering these challenges:

That's it for tonight. Hope your weekend was wonderful!

Get Your Happy On!

Welcome to another Outlawz CAS Challenge. Our challenge this week is happy! What makes you happy. Our sponsor this month is Fresh Brewed Designs. The winner will receive five free images. Here's my card:

I used the FBD's image called All Bundled Up - Kid. I love Christmas and cold weather (within reason and for short periods of time). And I love to see little kids all bundled up to go out to play in the snow. This FBD image reminded me of my kids when they were little. That definitely brought a smile to my face. I used a scrap piece of paper to make the borders for the card. The image I colored with Copics and inked the edges with Mowed Lawn distress ink. I embellished the image with Diamond Stickles. The image is popped up on a Spellbinder's ornate tag die cut. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set. I hope you'll join us this week and tell us what makes you happy at the CAS Outlawz challenge.

Birthday Glow

Happy hump day! I've been working on design team projects this week so I didn't think I'd get time to play in some of my favorite challenges. But I found a few minutes tonight to work on the From the Heart challenge #101.

So I used the sketch and the twist for this challenge. I just realized that it says pop up part of the image and I popped up the sentiment so I guess I only used the sketch LOL!

For my image I used Birthday Candle Birdbrain colored with Copic markers. I found the background paper in my scrap box. I was looking for something bright yellow since the sentiment had a birthday glow. I embossed the green strip with small stars (again the glow thing) and then inked the sentiment with Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery. This went together fairly quickly!

Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow is my last day at work this week. I am off on Friday for doctor's appointments and getting ready for family visiting this weekend. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Easter Parade

Happy Wednesday! I continue my guest design assignment over at DeeDee's stamp blog. This week I used a trio of her Easter stamp sets to make cards. Enjoy!

This image is from DeeDee's Christ is Risen stamp set. I used the pre-colored image because I love the stain glassed look. I die cut the sentiment from a Spellbinder's tag die. The paper is from a Simon Says Stamp Kit.

My second card's image is from Gifts of Spring. I used the pre-colored image but added some touches of Cotton Candy Stickles to the bunny's ears and nose and also along the edge of the sentiment. I used a Lawn Fawn stitched tag to cut out the red banner. The background paper is again from a Simon Says Stamp Kit. And to finish it off I used a line of pink rhinestones.

My third card is my first attempt at a bokeh background. I used  a variety of Distress Inks to make the circular pattern in both large and small circles. Atop the background I placed the spring cross from the set called Seasonal Crosses. It's a beautiful set that features crosses for each of the seasons. I've never seen any sets like this one. I was awed.
And here's a photo of all three together.

Thanks for stopping today. Please stop by DeeDee's blog to see what Kathy has to say about the cards. She always has something interesting. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Who Wants Pie?

Happy Sunday! It's supposed to be sunny here. That will definitely be a welcome change after two days of heavy rain. Next weekend we have family coming to visit so I've been busy getting ready for that. But I did have time to make a pie. Over at the Outlawz CAS challenge we are making pie this week.

This is my CAS card for the pie challenge. I used a cherry stencil at the top of the card. I've had this stencil forever and I don't think I've ever used it before. I used Firebrick Red and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. Th pie image is from Stamping with Gail. The image is colored with Copics. The card base is kraft with a layer of red. Easy peasy! I hope you can join us this week by making a pie! Hop over to the Outlawz site and check out what the rest of the design team made. They are adorable!
Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy Sunday and hope it's sunny for you!

With Sympathy

Happy Weekend! Just a quick post tonight of a card that I was able to play with today. I decided to make a sympathy card for my in stock cards. This is one that I usually don't do ahead but this time I'm going to be proactive.

I made this card with a set called Pretty Peacocks from Imagine That! This is an image from the March Progressive stamp challenge. The set also have some gorgeous peacocks as well as these beautiful flowers. The image is precolored. I added one of the sentiments from the set. And then I printed a second image and cut one flower as an embellishment. The inside of each flower has Diamond Stickles added. I cut it out from a Spellbinders pendant die. I inked the edges of the die cut with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The background is embossed with the Victoria embossing folder with an added grey layer behind it. I added a plaid scrap piece from my box and over top the scrap is a sheer ribbon with a sparkly edge. I used the Tuesday Morning sketch as my inspiration.

Wish Big!

We had very heavy fog this morning. Thick as pea soup (as they say). Many schools were on delays. But by noon time the sun was out and it turned into a beautiful day. Tomorrow we have a possibility of 60 degrees. I am in heaven.
My card tonight is for an upcoming birthday for a family member.

The image is from From the Heart digital stamps called Birthday Burger Birdbrain. I colored the image with Copic and Bic markers. I found the scrap of spatula paper in my scrap box. I think it goes great with the burger and I added the heart for a little embellishment. The sketch I used is the i {heart} card sketch #100.

And the twist is CAS which I also used. Isn't this a fun sketch? The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The inside sentiment is from the Birthday Burger Birdbrain set. It says "Wish Big".

You're a Timeless Classic

More masculine inspiration today. I have a couple guy birthdays coming up so here's one of the cards  I made.

The image is from Doodle Pantry called Hotrod Pickup. I used my beloved plaid paper. and added a double scalloped border from My Favorite Things. The car is popped up. The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I like this one!

Christmas Joy

Happy Sunday! I am posting early today since I get to go see Jersey Boys tonight at the auditorium. So excited! I love the music of the Four Seasons.
I did this card yesterday for the sketch challenge at From the Heart blog. They have a March blog hop going on and today is the last day. Some fabulous prizes to be won if you hop along. Here's the sketch that I worked with:

And here's my card.

The stamp is called Angel Joy.  I used a doily I had on hand for the circular shape and popped up the fussy-cut image after coloring it with Copics. I added a scrap of Christmas paper from my scrap box. I think this one is from the Paper Studio. The sentiment is embossed in black and the sentiment stamp is from the Little Paper Shop which sadly has closed. I added some sparkle on the angel wings and on the doily with Diamond Stickles and finished it off with green gem stones.

Thank you for stopping by! I am off to work on a design team project and a couple other things that I have in my head. I am so looking forward to having more time to craft when I reduce my work hours in May. For now, happy Sunday!

#1 Dad

Aah! Finally a sunny day today and above freezing. Some of the snow melted but we still have plenty to go around. It's going to take some time to melt the huge piles we have around all over.
I'm so excited. A friend called and said he had some tickets to see Jersey Boys at the IU auditorium tomorrow night. I really wanted to see this and now we get to for free. That's just awesome!

Last week was my week off at the Outlawz CAS challenge. But this week I am back with a challenge for using texture on your project. So I went all out.

I popped up the shirt and then the tie. I embossed the top layer with wood grain embossing folder. And then I added some twine for embellishment. The image is from our sponsor, Freshly Brewed Designs. The winner will receive 5 images from Freshly Brewed Designs. I hope you will drop by the Outalwz CAS Challenge and check out the rest of the design teams' creations. And then join along. Let's see your texture creation!

Another Friggen Candle

So how has your week been? I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday! It's been a busy week! I had a little time to play so here's a card I made with the Tuesday Morning Sketch. First the sketch.

And the card:

The image is from Bugaboo Digital Stamps. I colored the image with Copics. I die cut the Spellbinder's scalloped circles from scrap paper. I embossed the background with Spots and Dots embossing folder. I added a little twine for embellishment. I can't decide if I like this card or not. What say you

I am entering these challenges:
We had a little more snow yesterday. It hit right before coming home from work and the trip home was perilous. A ten minute trip took almost 45 minutes. And I saw at least 5 accidents. By this morning most of it was cleaned up but still a bit slippery.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

DeeDee Guest Designer

I have some exciting news! For the month of March I am a guest designer for DeeDee's Digital Stamps. It's such an honor to be asked to be a guest. DeeDee's images are so cute.
My card for today is my very first shaker card. One of my New Year's resolution was to try new techniques so this is a first attempt at a shaker card.

My son is getting married in May so I can use a couple of cards for showers and things. The image and sentiment are from the Two Hearts digital set. With my distress ink I created the background (Salty Sea, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers). I used Spellbinder's circle and tear drop circle dies. I added several different kinds of little sequins and hearts as part of the shaker. And also added some of the hearts to the front of the card. I love how it turned out! Check out DeeDee's digis and her blog too. She has a progressive challenge each month so check out the blog for that fun challenge!

Hope you enjoyed my first card with DeeDee's digis. Stayed tuned each Wednesday for a new project with DeeDee's awesome stamp sets. Have a wonderful day!

Santa's Reindeer

I'm continuing on my Christmas trend. We got 6 inches of snow over the weekend. Freezing rain today and a possible 6 more inches of snow tomorrow. Can you say, "enough is enough!" I know we are no where near Boston but I am ready for spring.

The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo Digital Stamps called Puppy - enough reindeer. I just think he is so cute. And I love the sentiment. I used the Stella sketch from Bugaboo.

I used a bunch of scraps from my Christmas box. I used the Holly Swirl embossing folder on the red background. It's hard to see in the photo. And I finished off the puppy with some Diamond Stickles on his hat, nose, jingle bells and snow.

I am entering these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are safe and warm wherever you are. Hope you come back tomorrow for a special announcement. Can't wait!
