Scrap Challenge

Since coming home from vacation, I've had trouble getting back into paper crafting. Too much to catch up on and no motivation to create. Just going through a period where I'm not pushing myself. So tonight I decided to try to work on a scrap challenge issued by Melanie Muenchinger on her blog Hands, Head and Heart.

The challenge: "See what you can make with the stuff on your desk." I always have card bases that I keep on my desk so I started with a white one. The purple background paper is from Stampin' Up! and I had used it earlier on a card that you can see in the post below and likewise the green background that I cut with a scalloped Nestie. The purple paper I tore by hand. I used a Shapeability to cut out my sentiment from Arranged with Love and I sponged it with Certianly Celery ink. I used two thin white ribbons to adhere the sentiment. The main image I had stamped ages ago and took with me to color on vacation so it was ready to be used. I finished it off by using Grape Stickles to embellish the scallops and the corners of the card.

Here's the inside of my card. I used the piece torn from the paper on the front, added my verse and then created a sunshine by sponging. Details below.
Stop by Melanie's blog and join in the challenge. And check out her amazing scrap card while you are visiting.

Details:
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin" Up! So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Pumpkin Pie, Versa Color Lavender
Stamp Sets: Elegant Flowers and Arranged with Love (both Gina K Designs)
Circle and Scalloped Nestabilities and Tag Shapeability
Embellishments: Grape Stickles

Thanks for checking out my blog today. I'm hoping that I get some mojo soon so I can return with more fun things. Have a great rest of the week!

Happy inking,

Tilda with Roses for CPS Challenge

I feel like I've been away from my blog forever. Glad to be home. We had a wonderful time but I didn't get to make a card for more than a week. Definite withdrawal symptoms. The trip was great. It was great to be with family again and to surprise my FIL for his 80th birthday. Going back to work was tough this week but the weekend is almost here and I am ready for it. It actually took me two nights to finish this card, but well worth the extra effort.

This card was made for this week's CPS challenge. They have a great sketch and a chance to win one of four stamp sets from Gina K designers. I used Tilda with Roses as my main image. I originally cut it out as an oval but then decided to cut one side of the oval off to give the hint of an Easter egg since it was an Easter card. I used my Scor-Pal to score the diagonal lines on the background paper. You can see that a bit better on the picture below.

The sentiment is from Gina K Spring Florals set. I used Shapeabilities to cut it out and sponged green around the edges. I accented the card with Prima flowers.

Sorry that the picture is not very good color. We broke the display on the camera during vacation so I am improvising until we can buy another camera. I hope it's soon. I'm hoping to find time this weekend to get back into the swing of things. Can't wait to get some things going. Have a great Friday and thanks for stopping by.

Big hugs,

Donna

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Good evening everyone! Before I take flight (this is spring break week) I wanted to leave you with a few cards I made over the weekend. Heading for Florida to celebrate my father-in-law's 80th birthday. So unfortunately there won't be much crafting for me this week. I am going to take along a cross stitch project and some images to color so maybe when I get back I can whip something up quickly!

This project was for a color challenge at Stamp TV. the colors were wine, yellow and kraft. I used the stamp sets A Year of Flowers (images) and Arranged with Love (sentiment) both by Melanie Muenchinger. Just a pretty straight forward card. The background paper is Basic Grey.

My next card is for the sketch challenge on Stamp TV. The image is a digital image from Digital Delights by Looby Lou. They have the cutest digital stamps and fun challenges. They also have a call out for new design team members. This cute little fellow is Sweetie Pea and I thought he'd make the cutest baby card. I made a button with the sentiment which comes from Wee Tees by Melanie Muenchinger (do you see a pattern here?) I just had to make something with Sweetie when I got him.

So there you have it. I'll be gone until next Monday soaking up some sun, I hope, because it's sure been gloomy around here. I expect that will change as soon as we board the plane. He,he,he! As long as it's not raining in the Keys (too much!) See ya'll next week and maybe I'll have a few vacation pics to share.

Butterfly Wishes

My card tonight turned out really nicely I think. I love this butterfly image from a set by Gina K called Hope is Faith. I also used a stamp from Hang in There by Theresa Momber. It's the stamped branches in the background.

The background paper is from Basic Grey Origins. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch at the left edge. The circle is cut with Nestabilities and then sponged with blue ink over the branches. I added the ribbon and rhinestones as accent.

On the inside a repeated a little bit of the Basic Grey paper and the circle with background images and stamped a sentiment to finish it off.

This card works for a couple of challenges:
  • Just Us Girls: sketch challenge #23. I fell in love with this sketch when I saw it!
  • Scrap-Creations: Going Grey challenge #1. Use Basic Grey paper on a celebration card.
I am away at a conference for work for the next few days. Hopefully I'll find time on the weekend to get back to crafting. Have a wonderful rest of the week and take care!

Big hugs to you all,

Blog Award

I received this Sunshine Award from a very dear friend of mine Karen Knegten (Hi there, Karen! And thanks for thinking of me!) And she followed up the award with a few rules for passing it on:

  • Pass it on to 6 bloggers
  • Put a link to your nominees within your post
  • Let your nominees know that you are passing this award along to them by leaving by leaving a comment on their blog
  • Link to the blog of the person who nominated you for this award
So I have to choose six people to pass the award forward. And you know it's such a difficult decision because I've met some wonderful people and amazing artists since I started stamping. So here are my picks:

Cammie: Such an amazing artist. I am always wowed by her talent and I so enjoy going to the library on my lunch hour and picking her creations out of the Crafts 'n Things magazine.

Glitterbabe aka Stef: Love your sense of humor and so enjoy your creations. Thanks for always visiting my blog.

handmade by lilacanglia: Angie has been my friend for a very long time. I love her work and she always makes me smile with her creations.

Wendy: I love her cards. She has an amazing ability to make everything special!

Valerie
: My best long distance friend! She inspired me with her cards. She inspires me to want to be a better person. She's overcome so much with such grace. You go girl!

Betty: She inspires me to try new things, like making a blog. She makes wonderful cards too!

Thanks to all the ladies I mentioned. They've enhanced my life, made me a better artist and I am proud to call them friends. Enjoy the sunshine award, ladies!

Busy, Busy, Busy

No I haven't died or anything. We are remodeling our basement, putting an offer in on a house and property and getting ready for a short vacation. Phew! Makes me tired thinking about all this. So I haven't had a lot of time for crafting.

But here's is one of my latest cards. The image and sentiment is from a set called Timeless Treasures by Theresa Momber. I used Nantucket Post-It Adhesive Craft Paper that I won from the Cuttlebug Spot. I scored the background diagonally to form the diamonds and then lightly sanded the diamonds to bring out the core. I used Nestabilities to cut out the sentiment and image and then inked around the shape and the edges. I stamped the image twice and popped up the image on the card. Added some ribbon and a flower and there you have it.

This card is for several challenges:
  • The Cuttlebug Spot: this week's challenge to is create something vintage. I thought the image and the sanded background gave this card a vintage look.
  • Little Paper Shop: challenge #58 is a color challenge: turquoise, white and dark purple.
  • Stamp TV: Inspired 13 challenge: use your Scor-Pal to create a diamond shape background.
A little plug before I go. Victoria Case has an upcoming new release, Spring is in the Air, this Friday, March 12th and she has some delicious blog candy to win. Check out the snippets of the new goodies and leave a comment to win some for yourself! You can get a second chance to win by going to Susana's Blog Follow Your Heart.

Also my blog candy ends on Friday. Just leave a comment at this point to win the stamp set, album and assorted other goodies. See the side bar for all the information.

I hope your week has been wonderful so far. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for our basement because that's my stamping area. Stop back for more fun this week.

Just Hanging Around!

Here is my third and probably last project for the Gina K Illustrator blog hop.The challenge is to use two of the new card stock colors and one of the new stamp sets. I think the stamp set that I used for this cute door hanger has to be my favorite of the latest release. Is this little guy adorable, or what?

The stamp set is Hang in There illustrated by Theresa Momber. I copied the template on creme de menthe pure luxury paper and accented that with ocean mist. Also used a little designer paper I won in a blog candy. I colored the cute little tree frog with colored pencils and added black stickles to his eye. After stamping the sentiment I outlined it with blue stickles. The dots in the scalloped top are also stickles as well as the line that I drew underneath the image. The pillow box hanger template is free from Adela Rossi. I hope to make some more of these to send off to my college-aged kids. I filled this one with chocolate but Adela had a very cute picture of filling it with school supplies. The ideas are probably endless. But this was great fun to do.

Thanks for checking out my projects for the Gina K Illustrators blog hop. If you haven't seen them all you can scroll down to see the other two cards I made. If you haven't seen Stamp TV yet (Gina's home away from home) check it out and see what a wonderful resource it is for everything paper crafts. Have a great Tuesday!

Birthday Butterfly

Happy Monday! My project tonight is another card for the Gina K Illustrator Blog Hop Challenge. We were to use at least two different colors of the new Gina K pure luxury card stock and one of the new stamp sets.

For this card I used two of the stamp sets. The butterfly is from Hope is Faith stamp set and the sentiment is from Inside and Out, a beautiful set filled with lovely verses and sentiments to use for all occasions. I double embossed the background using the Victoria embossing folder and the heart-shaped Nestabilities. The card stock colors I used were lovely lavender and lemon drop, definitely pure luxury! I love this color combination. I added pure luxury gold-lined ribbon, tying my bow with the Bow Easy. I sponged the edges of the heart with Lavender Lace ink. Wish me luck on this challenge. I would love to be Gina's guest designer for March.

Thanks for stopping by today. Let me know what you think of the card! God bless you all this week.
