Another Glitter Transfer

Happy Wednesday to you all. The week does seem to be flying by and I am so glad of that. Tomorrow at work I have to have our entire office packed by 5pm to move on Friday. This is the first of two moves. My guess is our final move will be around September or October. At least we are just moving within our current building and preparing for this move will make the next move a lot easier. So tomorrow and Friday will be very busy days for me. I am not without help so it doesn't all fall on me. We are starting to come out of our shell shock with our new assignments. We have to say good-bye to two of our friends on Friday who are moving to another unit and we had a reception for them today. It's very sad to know that our department won't be the same but we know where everyone is going and can still keep in touch. It's just very sad.

On a happier note, I have a bookmark to share with you tonight for Joan's Garden challenge. You can find the tutorial for making the bookmark from an old envelope through Joan's blog. Very easy and it can be a recycled envelope which I love. I again used the glitter transfer technique that I learned at Joan's workshop last weekend. I just love all that glittery fun and no mess. The Glitter Ritz that you use for this technique burnishes into the double sided tape so none of the glitter comes off. How cool is that!

I covered both sides of the envelope with this striped patterned paper. I used the Spellbinder Fleur de Lis die and my new Grand Calibur to cut the lacy background and then popped up my glitter transfer flower. Quick and easy! And oh so fun. Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget that on April 1st I will be showcasing the new release for Doodle Pantry. The new release is amazing and you won't want to miss this one. Have a wonderful Thursday!

What a Difference a Day Makes

Today was my conference to be re-assigned in my job. Everything went well and I still have a job (good news!). They said several people asked to have me transferred to their department. Apparently I was in high demand so that made me feel good. They actually formed a new area within the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE) so I will be moving from the Registrar's Office to OVPUE with 5 of my co-workers to form the new Office of Research and Assessment. A real challenge ahead. We won't be moving to our new location until July except this week we are moving to a temporary location since they will begin remodeling our current location. It's such a mess. But I am glad that we at least know where we are going and the wait is over.

On another note I have been taking a Cricut course. I've had my Cricut for about a year and a half and hadn't done very much with it. So I decided to take this class to learn more about it. The final assignment was  a scrap book page but since I don't scrap book the teacher is converting the instructions to a card for me. For practice I made this card.

I used the George cartridge to make the card. I need more practice but I learned a lot about cutting and using different paper sizes. It was very informative. I'm looking forward to creating some things with other cartridges too.

And lastly my beloved Cuttlebug gave up the ghost at the workshop I attended last weekend so I needed a new die cut machine. I found a Grand Calibur at Michaels. They had a sale that if you bought a Spellbinder's product you got another one at 50% off. I really didn't want to buy a second product so I took the Grand Calibur to the checkout and also presented the 40% off coupon. Woo hoo, they took $56 off the price and I got the Grand Calibur for less than $90. I was thrilled! I've only made one cut so far but I cut two different pieces on an 8 1/2 by 11 paper. I love it!

Hope your Tuesday was great! Tomorrow is hump day and I am so looking forward to being on the down side of the week. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my busy day.

Glitzy Glitter

Welcome back and happy Monday. I just want to share another project that we did this weekend at Joan's Garden workshop. I'd never seen this technique before but Margaret Van Duyn drove from Illinois to show us the glitter peel technique. I think you'll agree that the results are amazing!

This is the entire card. We used lots of die cuts and I actually broke my Cuttlebug doing this card. : (  I loved my Cuttlebug and used it on almost every card I made.  So my DH said I can buy a new one. : ) I'm considering getting a Grand Calibur. If you have one let me know if you like it or not. I like that you can use full sheets of paper in it or cut more than one doe at a time. But back to my card.

In this picture you can really see the gorgeous glitter and sparkle of the image. And the technique was so easy. You  just peel the outline off the sticker sheet, burnish in the glitter and then color with Copics. So easy and so pretty. I have one more pic that shows the card open.
I just love the technique and I can't wait to try this again!

On another note, I got an email today that I have a conference with my boss tomorrow. I assume that it's finally my turn to be reassigned. There are 5 of us who have conferences tomorrow so I am hoping by this time tomorrow I will know my fate. The waiting is the worst. So keep me in your prayers and hope that I have a job. Hehe! I don't think I have to worry about that. It's just a matter of where they will place me.
Hope you had a wonderful start to your week. I am headed to bed because tomorrow will be here before you know. Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Sunday

Can you believe the weekend is almost over! Where does the time go. Yesterday I got up at 3:30am and drove to South Bend, IN for a card workshop. It was a blast (except for the 3:30am and the long drive). My friend, Julie (hi  Julie) and I went up to Joan's Garden and attended her workshop. I wanted to show you one of the things we made.

Isn't this gorgeous. We learned to make these roses and then made the box and added all the layers on top. Such fun! Here's another view.

I just love the rose and it wasn't very difficult. But they do take time. I can't imagine sitting all day making roses. I love the die cuts too. The original left the leave die cuts white but I colored mine green. I thin it set everything off really nicely. One last pic.

Learned a lot and tomorrow I'll share another project with you. I'm really excited about that one. I learned a new and very easy technique that just has stunning results.
I'm entering this into two challenges: Scrap Creations (use flowers) and Speedy Fox and Friends (shades of pink). Hope you have a wonderful start to your week. Check back tomorrow and I'll post the other new technique I learned yesterday! Big hugs to all!

Egg-cellent!

It's Friday, how egg-cellent! Tomorrow morning I'm rising at 3am to head off to South Bend, IN for a card workshop. I'm finally going to meet Joan of Joan's Garden. The only thing I am not looking forward to is the 3am rise and the 4 and half hour drive (one way.) It will be a long day. I wanted to share a card I made last night before I am off to bed.
The Doodle Pantry image is called Easter Birdie. The sentiment is from the same set. The popped up eggs are from the DP set called Quirky Bunny. And the background paper is also from Doodle Pantry. I love that pastel plaid. So cute!
I'm entering this card into these challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today. I'm hoping to learn a bunch of new things this year. Big storms headed through tonight but I'm hoping they will be cleared out by early tomorrow. Have a wonderful weekend!

Fab 'n' Funky Challenge

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the Fab 'n' Funky challenge this week and the challenge is to make a Mother's Day card. Some of the DP design team knocked the challenge out of the park and you can see them all at the Doodle Pantry Blog. Just as a little taste of the fun here's my card:

Check out the Fab 'n' Funky challenge and win some free Doodle Pantry goodies!

Challenges that I am entering this card into:
Hope your week is going well. Our weather has set records this week. Today we were supposed to hit 86 degrees. I heard from my husband Tom and son Dan. They finished 58 miles of the Appalachian Trail today (started on Sunday) and said they were thrilled to be able to shave and get a shower.  Now they will go visit my other son Steve in North Carolina and head home on Sunday; Tom to Bloomington and Dan back to Salt Lake City.
No new news at work. Still waiting to hear where I will be moving to. I have been taking web programming classes at work this week. Finished xhtml today and will start cascading style sheets tomorrow. So far it's been a great refresher. Let's hope the rest of the week goes quickly! Thanks for stopping by!

Bunny Hop

Happy Sunday! I'm feeling a bit better every day. Took a long walk today because the weather was so nice. Hard to tell how long it will last and it's very rare that we hit 80 in March. I also worked on my Cricut class today. I've been trying to cut chipboard and bought a deep cut blade but so far I haven't gotten that to work. I'm going to try to do a card with something I cut out today but not tonight. I'll work on that later this week.
Heard from DH and son who are hiking 58 miles of the Appalachian Trail this week. They have 14 miles down and they said it was a beautiful day. So I guess it was a good day for them and hopefully no blisters.
My card tonight is looking forward to Easter. I did it for Joan's Garden Challenge. The requirements were to make an Easter card: include a bunny; use an embossed background; use colors appropriate for Easter; use a flourish and rhinestones.

I used the sketch from Sketches by Carly. The image is from Doodle Pantry and it's called Quirky Bunny. The eggs are from the same set. The plaid paper is from Doodle Pantry Easter papers. I cut the flourish branch with my Cricut. The embossed background is Swiss Dots and I added rhinestones to the Spellbinder scalloped die. And don't forget the yellow and white striped ribbon.
Quirky Bunny isn't for sale yet but you can still get the set for free by participating in the Doodle Pantry challenge. We still have a few days left.
The work week is upon us. And it's back to the grind. At least I have something special to look forward to this week. On Saturday, I am driving to South Bend, IN to visit Joan from Joan's Garden. I am so excited that I will finally meet her. I so enjoy actually meeting those that I become friends with on the Internet. Hope you have something to look forward to this week. Make it a great one!

Luck of the Irish

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to everyone! I really haven't died although sometimes in the past week and a half I've wanted to do that. First the flu and then an upper respiratory infection. Today is the first day I felt like I could get something accomplished and it turned out to be mostly neglected housework. I still have a cough and haven't regained my full voice yet but I'm feeling much better today. I actually slept most of the night without a coughing fit. Hoping for the same tonight since I have to get up at 5:30 am to take DD to work.
So as luck would have it, I am still making St. Patrick's Day cards that I will be sending belated since today is the day. Haha! This one I'm sending out to my aunt in the morning.

The image is from Doodle Pantry called Clover Patch Ants and the sentiment is from the same set. I used some retired Stampin' Up! paper for the background and a dark green base. Lots of Spellbinders: Scalloped circle, ovals and scalloped ovals and then cut the sentiment into a flag. Very easy! I'm still trying to get my mtoivatin back after being sick so long. I'm hoping tomorrow is the day!
Entering this into a couple of challenges:
There you have it for today. Hope you had a green beer or corn beef and cabbage or a little green tea. However you celebrated St. Patty's Day I hope it was a good one.

Hugs,
Donna

Birthday Train and More

We had a gorgeous day weather-wise today and we're supposed to have another wonderful day tomorrow. I'm feeling a bit better but I have absolutely no voice at all. It's really hard to work with no voice. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be better in that department. While I was sick I had a couple of birthday cards that I needed to make but my motivation wasn't really there. So here are my cards that aren't exactly my best work.
The first card is for my BIL. He used to work on trains so I added that to his card.

I believe the train is from TLC. Used the Spellbinder's oval and scalloped oval die and Tartan embossing folder. The sentiment is from a Gina K stamp set called Inside and Out.
My other card is for my FIL. I kept it CAS.
The March sentiment is from Blue Bird Flats and I can't remember where I found the balloons. Please let me know if you know so I can give proper credit. The patterned paper is blue sky with some clouds. Pretty simple, but like I said my motivation just wasn't there. I'm hoping for a better showing soon.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm hoping to continue to improve health-wise and maybe my mojo will return. I'm looking forward to the weekend. My husband is meeting my sons in North Carolina and Dan and Tom will be visiting Steve for the weekend and then hiking 58 miles of the Appalachian Trail next week. Tom will drive home then on the following Sunday. So I'll have some me time and hopefully some fun crafting time. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Birthday Girl Scouts

I am still fighting an upper respiratory infection. I finally went to see the doctor yesterday and he cleared me to go back to work today if I didn't have a temperature. No temperature today and I was almost happy to get out of the house since I'd been mostly home since Thursday. It was raining early today but sunny and nice when I got home. I was able to walk the block after dinner so I got some exercise. I'm just hoping I can sleep tonight. I haven't been sleeping very well and the last two nights I've been sleeping in the recliner in the living room. It seemed to help my head clear better. Anyway, I'm hoping I am on the mend and heading back into health.

Also wanted to wish all my Girl Scouts friends a Happy 100th Birthday. I've been a Girl Scout for 22 years now and it's been an amazing experience. It's very satisfying to work with girls and watch their enthusiasm and zest for life. I love working with the girls and some of my best friends are from my Girl Scout experience. So Happy Birthday and let's celebrate and continue into the next 100 years.

I'll be back tomorrow with something crafty. I didn't get much done over the weekend. Absolutely no motivation but I have a few birthday cards that I need to send soon that I'll show you tomorrow night. Hope you are all fine and had a wonderful start to your week. Take care and stay healthy!

Thank You Berry Much

Happy Wednesday! Half the week has flown by and we're on the downward side, looking forward to the weekend. Expecting heavy rain and storms this evening and I'm hoping nothing severe. Not feeling great this evening and as soon as I finish posting I think I will be heading for bed.

Tonight's card didn't start out to be a thank you card but as I got the layers put together it just sreamed at me to use the thank you sentiment. LOL!
The strawberries and sentiment are from a Gina K Stamp TV kit called Enjoy the Sunshine. I paper pieced the three sets of strawberries with three different patterned papers. I used my lattice punch and my favorite Victoria Cuttlebug embossing folder. I'm entering my card in several challenges:
Thank you for stopping by today. I'm headed for bed and hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

Elegant Blue and Green

Welcome! It's Tuesday already. Strange day today. I had to have blood drawn this morning so I was late for work. I thought it would take 15 minutes and an hour later they are still trying to draw my blood. It's like my blood knows that it doesn't want to be found so my veins hide, big time. After several sticks, they finally found a vein. So I worked through lunch to make up my hour and then the server went down at 3 p.m. At 4:30 we decided there wasn't much sense in sitting around anymore and went home. Still no news on our department reorganization or my re-assignment. Still packing to move buildings wherever out new office will be.

I have an elegant card tonight. At first I didn't think I liked the card but I think it's growing on me.

I do like the pearls and the fluer de lis die cuts. The paper is from Doodle Pantry and the image is Doodle Pantry Blue Bonnets. Don't forget to check out Doodle Pantry's challenge. If you participate you receive the new Quirky Bunny set.

This card is for Joan's Garden Challenge. The challenge must have corner embellishments, a color theme of blue and green, some kind of flowers, and an oval background. That's it for tonight. I have to go work on my online class. I decided to take a class about my Cricut. I wanted to use it more but didn't know how. So I'm working on learning something new. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Hippo Birdy 2 Ewes

Happy Monday! Very cold here today but tomorrow it's supposed to be back into the 50s. The weather is so strange. Nothing new on the re-organization at work. But we continue to pack up things for the move. I can't imagine doing my job out of boxes for the next 4 months. But that might be just what happens.

My card for today is a birthday card for a special friend.
I just love the image. Too funny! The image was a freebie from Karen Hill. It's colored with Bic Markers and Copics. I used the double-sided paper, added it to the background and then embossed with the Swirl embossing folder. The border punch is Martha Stewart and I added the three button embellishment tied with raffia. I'm entering the card in several challenges:
Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday. One-fifth of the work week is over. Hippo-hurray! Okay I'm done with hippos now. Thanks for stopping by!

Send A Smile 4 Kids Challenge

Hope your weekend was wonderful! It's a shame that it's almost over. Tom and I took Friday off and spent the weekend at Baby Creek. We got out there about 8 p.m. on Thursday evening and found that the wind storm on Wednesday had toppled a tree over the driveway, which is a very steep hill. The tree was about 20 inches around. So in the dark it took about an hour and a half to chain saw enough of the tree to get us up the hill. Friday morning we cleaned up more tree damage and then started to hall bricks from the top of the hill to the new driveway we are putting in. We hauled 5 loads on Friday and 3 on Saturday. Had friends for dinner on Saturday evening and played bridge and got the bonus of an extra night out there. I came home early this morning and Tom hiked 14 miles to get ready for his trip on the Appalachian Trail in two weeks. So it was a pleasant weekend even though we had a few surprises along the way. We should take Friday off more often and spend some time enjoying our little out-of-the-way place.

Today Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the challenge at Send A Smile 4 Kids. The challenge is to make a clean and simple (CAS) card. I made a card using Ski Sheep. I was instantly drawn to this set. My son, Dan, who lives in Utah, has been skiing a lot lately; I thought this would be the perfect image to send him a hello card. So it will head to Utah in the mail tomorrow.
Check out the challenge and join in. You just might win some awesome digital stamps from Doodle Pantry.

Hop you have a spectacular week! Maybe I will find out this week where I am being re-assigned at work. Keep your fingers crossed!

New from Doodle Pantry

I am so excited to be part of the Doodle Pantry Design Team and today I get to officially begin my fun with the team. Laurie is releasing some awesome sets this month. I made two projects for the release. The first project is and easel card with the new set called Lion and Lamb.

The image of the lion and lamb actually swings on the card. I've never tried that before but it was much easier than I thought it would be. The sentiment is also from the same set. Here's a picture of the card closed and ready for an envelope.
My second project is with a set that you can get for free if you join us for the March challenge on the Doodle Pantry blog. The challenge will be posted today. The set is called Quirky Bunny. I just love this set.

Isn't the bunny just adorable! The eggs and paper come with the set. So hop on over to the Doodle Pantry blog and take part in the challenge. Also check out all the design team creations for the new release.

Thanks for stopping by today for my very first post as a Doodle Pantry DT member. I'm off to have more fun with the wonderful images this month.
