It's not very often that I make a 3:30 a.m. post but since I was tossing and turning and not sleeping I thought I might as well do something productive. I meant to post something last night and didn't get around to it so here I am very early in the morning; and on a day that I have to go to work no less. I hate it when I can't sleep. Too many things on my mind.
My MIL asked me to make her Christmas cards this year so this is the first idea I came up with. I have another idea that I will show you later this week. My in laws will be visiting this weekend so I wanted to have some samples ready for her to pick from. Her only stipulation was that she wanted them religious. So this is the first one I made.
Pretty simple. The embosssed background is the Holly Swirl folder. The image and sentiment is from DeeDee's digis. I appears that her site has been taken down so I can't link to it. After I did this card I thought the candle was too small and the sentiment was too big and I was thinking how much my MIL likes purple and thought maybe I should incorporate purple into the card too so I made this version:
I colored the candle slightly differently and added the ribbon. Which one do you prefer? I am entering these cards into the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long challenge to use traditional colors.
I am going to try to head back to bed and catch a few more winks before the alarm goes off. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your week is off to an amazing start.

My Sunday nights were like that when I taught in the high school...I guess facing 160 kids on Monday morning...haha I like the 2nd one but I think the sentiment should be larger. I like the candle overlapping in the first one. I guess I was no help..haha
JUst GORgeous! I LOve them both.

Hi Donna,
What a lovely card, wonderful scripture.
I like both cards - but if I had to choose it would be the top one? Not sure exactly why but it caught my eye more.
Blessings,
Barb
I am partial to the second card, though I do agree with the first comment about liking the candle overlapping the sentiment on the first. But out of the two, I would go with the second. That is such a beautiful sentiment and I love the addition of the candle. Thanks for playing with CSAYL.
Such wonderful embossing. What a way to keep yourself busy when you cant sleep. Thanks for joining us at CSAYL!
