I {heart} sketches with a twist #157

Just a quick post to show you one of the crafts we did at day camp. I had several different designs that the girls could use for this project. But it was really easy and fun. We made optical illusion tops.

For this top I used the Sun, Waves and Flip Flops image at From the Heart Stamps. I resized the image to fit on a CD. I colored the image with Copic markers and added several colors of Stickles to make it sparkle then glued the image to the CD. Finally I glue a marble into the center and once the glue is dry you can spin it and it looks like this.

See the sparkle? This top will spin for a very long time and the illusion changes as the speed lessens. It's very cool! We had a great time making these. The challenge at I {heart} sketches with a twist is usually a sketch but I used the twist this time: make it sparkle. This would be a great thing to do with your kids this summer. You can pick up a pack of marbles at the dollar store. And if you need CDs I have hundreds. I'm always looking for CD projects to do with the Girl Scouts. LOL!

What a splendid & beautiful look for an old cd (I got a ton of those). Love the Mandela look of the design, and I bet the kids had such fun, making these & then everyone spinning. TFS & don't work too hard on the house cleaning. It just gets dirty all over again. Hugs
