And besides using the sketch, the card needed to be masculine. I love doing sketch challenges so that part wasn't too difficult, but I seldom do cards with scenes. So that was the challenge for me. This is also one of the first cards I've colored using Odorless Mineral Spirits and I was very happy with the results. The boat is pop-dotted off the card.
Card recipe:
Stamp set used: Sweet 'n Sassy Dino-Mite; Gina K Guiding Light
Colored with Koh-hi-nor Woodless Pencils and Odorless Mineral Spirits
Background Paper: Long rectangle is cut from a tissue box; black, white, and kraft cardstock; other patterned paper from Paper Studio
And this is the inside of the card. The verse says:
A father is neither an anchor to hold us back,
not a sail to take us there,
but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.
I hope my FIL will like it! Thanks for dropping by. Happy Monday and have a wonderful rest of the week!
Happy inking,
Donna

Wow - the coloring is fantastic and the style of painting (is it painting?) fits the card imagery as well! I've never used odorless mineral spirits myself. Also, love that it is a masculine card, which is not as common!
How fun! I love the scene you made!
I love it!
Hugs,
