It's Cuttlebug Tuesday

Good Morning! This will be a short post. I forgot to post last night and I have to get to work. Last week I didn't participate in my design teams and really missed them but I'm back this week and hope you enjoy the last of the inspiration themes from The Cuttlebug Spot. This week's challenge is to pick an advertisement and create a project around that ad. Here's the ad that I chose:

Frogtape! I love it! And here's my card:
Sorry I'm not giving details today. If I have time tonight I'll edit later. Gotta run. Have a wonderful day!

Small Treat Box

Happy Sunday to you all. My training yesterday went very well! I trained about 30 Girl Scout leaders for Spring Crafts. We had lots of fun. I haven't taken pictures of the crafts yet but I'll try to get pics of them up. Today I had a chance to make a few things for this upcoming week. One of them is a small Valentine Treat Box.

This is the front of the box with a cute little double-looped bow made with my Bow Easy. The image and sentiment are both from Digital Delights. The image is Cuddles Sends Love. The paper is double-sided designer paper from Stampin' Up! I filled a little baggie with candy and tied the top with a dotted ribbon.
My little treat box was made for these challenges:
I hope your weekend has been wonderful. Here's hoping your week ahead is a wonderfully crafty one. Take care!

For you... with love

I've been busy this week in a couple of ways. I'm getting ready for a Girl Scout training this weekend. I'm doing a training on spring crafts. I'll be taking pictures so you can see the crafts we're making during the training. My second big thing this week was a doctor's appointment on Monday. I am now sporting a brace on my left had and wrist. The doc said I had several tip fractures in my wrist and then the arthritis in my thumb was inflamed. The brace is slightly hampering so it takes me longer to do things. I'll survive but a little slower than usual. Hehe!
My card tonight is for Joan's Garden challenge. The challenge has 4 aspects: use paper with stripes; use a button or some kind of embellishment; use a heart; and use a bow.

I went with a monochromatic theme which was nontraditional colors for valentine. The hearts are Spellbinders nestabilities. The sentiments come from a stamp set called A Year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. The embellishments are pearls, blue rhinestones, a button and ribbon.

Other challenges:
Hope you are having a wonderful week. We have yet another snowstorm coming in tonight. Tomorrow should be lots of fun, NOT! Be safe out there.

Guest Designer Card

Today I am thrilled to tell you that I am a guest designer for Everybody-Art-Challenge Blog. The new challenge this week is "snow." You can make any projects with snow as the theme. My card today certainly has snow as the theme.
The image used was Digital Delights Pickles the Penguin. I colored and cut Pickles out and he's pop-dotted up on the sponged background. The snowflakes are glittered foam. Pickles scarf and the ball on his hat is done in Tiara Stickles and the rim of his hat is done in Baby Blue Stickles.  The image was colored with Bic Marks It markers. The background is sponged with Bashful Blue and Going Gray ink. Stop over at Everybody-Art-Challenge and join in the challenge. Thanks to Domi for allowing me to be the guest designer today and for Wendy at Digital Delights for sponsoring the challenge.

Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping by today. This week I am getting ready to do a spring craft training for Girl Scout leaders. I'll be sharing the projects that they will be working on this week. Have a wonderful week!

Strawberries are Sweet

Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here and I'm looking forward to some time to get ready for my training next weekend. Tonight I wanted to join in a challenge at Flourishes. The challenge is the colors of love: red, pink and white. I don't have a lot of Flourishes stamps but I used one of the sets that I had called Strawberries.

It's slightly difficult to see but I used Versamark ink and stamped a strawberry background. The main image is colored with Copics and die cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestability. The sentiment is from the same set and cut out with Spellbinder's Tag Trios. I added a little ribbon to the tag. The Flourishes challenge runs through Friday at 5pm. And the prize is the entire new release. Thanks for stopping by and hope you head into the weekend with lots of fun things to do!

And there's a brand new challenge up at Delightful Challenges. This week the challenge is to make an easel card.  My stamp today is from the new release: Love You Larry.

I made the glittered heart from a cereal box and a heart template. Cit slits to string the ribbon through. Here's the rest of the details:

Comfort

This week has been really busy and it's going to spill over into next week. On January 22nd I am teaching a class for spring crafts to Girl Scout leaders. So I have lots to do before then. I have the handouts done but I haven't made any examples yet or cut any paper for the leaders to do make 'n takes. I think we have 40 in the class so I better get busy. So in that vein I am doing everything at the last minute this week including my design team projects and my challenges. So tonight it was Joan's Garden challenge. Entries have to be in by 6am tomorrow so you'd better hurry if you want to participate.  This week's challenge has four parts:

1. Use some kind of animal, bird or whatever
2. Use a floral background paper
3. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone
4. Use some kind of Die

Three of the requirements are pretty clear: I used animals, a floral background and a die. But you might be asking what's out of my comfort zone here. I am a neat and tidy crafter. I like straight lines and everything neat and tidy. So sticking everything at different angles is really out of my comfort zone. I think it turned out okay but I'm not sure that I love it.

I hope you'll come back tomorrow morning for the Delightful Challenge this week and a new release from Digital Delights. It's a Valentine extravaganza!

I Just Called...

The inspiration challenges this month at The Cuttlebug Spot has been so much fun. Last week our project centered around a book. This week our inspiration comes from a song. The song I chose this week is a classic by Stevie Wonder. I think the card says it all! (grin!)

I made an easel card with pink card stock for the base. The embossing folder is a new one for me called Grace's Frame. The image and sentiment are from a Gina K stamp set called Sung from the Heart illustrated by Rupa Shevde. I used a Martha Stewart french scroll border punch and cut small hearts from Spellbinders Hearts and Scalloped Hearts Nestabilities. Hop on over to The Cuttlebug Spot, pick a song, make a project and join in the fun. Also check out the design team's projects for some more "tuneful" inspiration!

This card also is eligible for some other challenges:

We are experiencing the calm before the storm tonight. It's supposed to start snowing overnight and continue through tomorrow. I don't think we've had this much snow in one year for a long time. I'd love to stay home and enjoy the winter weather from the inside but I have to work tomorrow so I'm going to have to go out in it. Stay safe and warm if you are in for snow, friends. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Hugs for Katie

Happy Monday! Today I have a card using a very special digital stamp. The stamp is called A Hug for Katie. Katie is a very special person whose life has been turned upside down. Right before Christmas Katie found out she had Stage 4 stomach cancer. Katie touched my life by sharing her wealth of knowledge in tutorials at Clear Dollar Stamps. You can go check out her tutorials. Now she needs out help. You can read all about Katie on her blog.
Many stamp creators have banded together to reach out to help Katie. Wendy from Digital Delights has created an adorable stamp that you will be able to use again and again. Here's my card using Wendy's digital stamp A Hug for Katie.

Katie's friend Jak is spearheading an effort to help Katie and her family. She has an amazing collection of stamps by a variety of designers. For donating £15, you can receive all the stamps. Go to Jak's blog for all the details and to see all the wonderful stamps. And please help Katie. You'll be happy you did.
Have a wonderful week. Hope it's a great one.

Owl be Wishing you a Happy Birthday

Happy Tuesday! Yesterday I said good-bye to one of my sons as he returned to his job. On the weekend I'll send my other son back to school, so the holidays are coming to an end. I'm trying to get stocked up on birthday cards. I have a bunch of birthdays in February so I'd like to get ahead. So Tuesday brings two challenges that I make sure to look at each week but I don't always get a chance to do them. So this week I combined them. Flourishes Challenge #99 is to use flowers. How easy is that? And Scrap-Creations has a fun sketch.

So I combined the two challenges and I came up with this card:

Here's the details:
Flower Image: Flourishes A Year of Flowers, September-December
Leaf background: Gina K Hang In There
Sentiment: Gina K Spring Florals
Embellishments: Owl: Stampin' Up! owl punch, pink ribbon
Designer Paper: Basic Grey

Hope you check out these two wonderful challenges. Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful rest of your week. Please stop back later this week for the first challenge for Delightful Challenges in 2011. See you then!

New Year, New Cuttlebug Spot Challenge

Welcome to the first challenge for 2011 from The Cuttlebug Spot. This week your challenge is to create a project from a book. The book I chose was The Secret Garden.

If you've never read the book, it's about a little girl who comes to live with a distant relative after the death of her parents. She discovers a garden that hasn't been tended to for a long time. In reclaiming the garden she reclaims her life and finds love. So I tried to imagine what the garden might look like. Here's my project.

This card uses my Christmas present, my new Cricut. I used the George Alphabet and Basic Shapes and the Paper Lace cartridges to create the flowers and then put them through the Cuttlebug to give them texture. I used the D'vine Swirls and Swiss Dots embossing folders for the flowers. I used the Victoria folder for the background. The sentiment is also cur with my Cricut. I'm so excited about my new toy.
Check out the Cuttlebug Spot challenge this week. I'm sure that the design team has gone all out for this one. You can find their links from the Cuttlebug Spot or from the right side of my blog. I'd love to see what you would create for this challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are having a wonderful week!

First Birthday Card of the Year

Now that Christmas is behind us I need to make birthday cards. I am pretty depleted in that category right now. So my first card for 2011 is a birthday card!

I used Digital Delights Teapot Pippin. I believe this image is retired. I colored Pippin with Bic Mark It Markers. On the left is one of my first tries at cutting with my new Cricut that my DH gave me for Christmas. So far I'm really liking it but it's going to take me some time to get used to it. I used a ribbon to back the edging. I backed the Pippin image, cut with a circle Nestability, with a scalloped circle Nestability. The sentiment is from Gina K's Inside and Out stamp set.
This card is for several challenges:
Yesterday we visited my husband's parents and took them out to dinner for the New Year. They normally go to Florida for the winter but decided not to this year. So I did get a little crafting time after we got home this afternoon. Tomorrow I have to go back to work : (  Last week the tech people took my computer so I'm not sure that I'll have much to do tomorrow without a computer. One of my sons leaves for Boston tomorrow so we're going to have lunch together before he heads for the airport. I'm said to see him go but he'll be moving to Utah in January so we'll get a chance to go see him in Utah in a month or two.  Here's hoping you have a wonderful week. I'll be busy getting my act together for our new design team challenges this week. Stop back later to check out the new challenges going on.
