Oldies but Goodies

Happy weekend! You will be glad you stopped by today because I have a special treat. I'm participating in a Doodle Pantry "oldies but goodies" blog hop. The blog hop begins at 6a.m. December 8th and runs through 11:59p.m. December 9th. Some of the design team got together and decided to show off some of the Doodle Pantry older sets. If you came here from Lori's blog you are on the right track. If not you may want to start at the Doodle Pantry blog and follow along. Be sure to leave a comment on each blog. One of the commenters will receive a $20 gift certificate to Doodle Pantry.
I chose the owl set for my project today.
I just love the realistic look of the owl. So I used a sketch from Page Maps for my card.

I used a distressed look to go along with the oldies theme. I used Copics to highlight the image and color in the branch. I cut and embossed the image with Spellbinders rectangle die and sponged the background with Stampin' Up! Bashful Blue ink. The base is gray card stock so I added a gray accented twine. The background was embossed with distressed stripes embossing folder and then inked it with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. The image and sentiment are from the Qwl set.

Edit: All the stamp sets featured on the blog hop are an extra 25% off Saturday and Sunday during the hop. Check out the Digi Grab Bag!

Extra Extra: I am also offering some blog candy today. Here's what could win:
2 Serendipity Snowmen Stamps
2 Webster's Pages fabric ribbons
1 package Make it Christmas stickers

So you have at least 2 chances to win by participating in the blog hop. To be entered to win, please leave a comment and tell me what is your favorite treat that you only get at Christmas time. Also please leave a way to contact you in case you win my blog candy. I will randomly draw a winner on Monday December 10th.

Don't forget the 35% off sale at Doodle Pantry on all images. The sale is good until January 3rd. It's a great way to stock up on some of the images that you've seen in the hop. Now to continue with the hop go and check out the amazing project at Ellen's blog. Thanks for participating in the blog hop. Good luck with winning the candies!

This is such a fabulous masculine looking card! I really love that owl and need to get him. My dad just loves owl and that card would be a great inspiration for me. So glad that through this blog hop I discovered your work. I'm now your 100th follower ;) Congrats.

My favorite treat at Christmas time would be little nuts sold at Costco only at Christmas time they are covered with yummy sugary coating... I'm drooling as I type lol

Donna,
I love your card! It is amazing how two people can use the same image and have entirely different end results (even down to the colors of the owl...lol!). Your card is wonderful and perfect for the men in your life!

I am an owl lover. We have a pair living on our property nesting in a handmade box we put up for them. So beautiful - your card is just very precious - beautiful work and talent!

I love your card. Especially the way you did the blue around the image and just a slight bit of gray on the owl. Great sentiment too.

I really love this card. I love that owl and will have to go see if I can find it on the website. You did a great job with the highlighting of it too. My favorite at Christmas time is my mother in laws cheese cake as she only makes it at Christmas time. It is really light and yummy!!
