For those of you in the U.S., Happy Labor Day! I had to labor on Labor Day. Because our university started a week ago I had to go to work today to do first week reporting. I worked about half the day today and I'll get to take comp time some other time. So they owe me three and a half hours.
My first card uses the
Inspirational Card Sketch Challenge. It's fairly simple. I used the bird house template earlier but there were three different sizes on the same template, so this is a smaller version of the one I used before. I backed it with designer paper and hand sewed around the edges. The sewing was a requirement for a techniques challenge over at
Stamp TV. Now as you can see I am no expert at sewing. One of these days I'll work a little harder at it. Funny, I love to cross stitch but I can't sew at all. LOL!
My second card is also for more than one challenge. The first challenge is for the
Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. The challenge this week was to create an invitation using a theme (the theme will be used all during their birthday month for other projects). So the card I created was to invite Girl Scout leaders to begin a new year. My theme: New Beginnings!
To create the card I used this week's sketch challenge at
Stamp TV. The image is from A Year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and glued both pieces to the card. I used the Cuttlebug with the argyle embossing folder. The circular pieces were cut with my Colluzzle. I added the ribbon with a charm attached. Which leads me to the third challenge that this card works for.
The
Kaboodle Doodle Blog challenge this week is to use a charm on your card. I found this sunflower charm before I started creating the card and actually built the card around the charm. I don't have many charms laying around here so I had to use what I had. But thanks Kaboodle design team for the fun challenge. I have never before used a charm in my card designing. Now I've done something new!
Whew! Five challenges in one night. I didn't get much chance to craft over the weekend but it's nice to get back at my desk again. Hope you like my cards. I hope this week is not as busy as last week was but I know my weekend coming up is jammed packed again. Hopefully I'll have something to share with you. I made a trophy card with the same themed paper that I used in some of the other projects. The base is stamped with a flower pattern from A Year of Flowers by Melanie Muenchinger. I love the saying stamped at the bottom of my trophy card, "All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today." New Beginnings!
The other challenge was a sketch challenge at Inspirational Card Sketches #35. What a great sketch this was. I thought it was a real challenge too!
Another Dustin Pike image was used on this card. Love that Martha Stewart edge punch!
This card uses a recycled Christmas card and star stamps from a Gina K set.
This one uses a Stampin' Up! set called Cardinal Christmas. I also used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder on the background card stock and added some star brads as embellishments.
And last but not least is a little deer friend from Squigglefly. Aren't digital stamps wonderful!
This is a thank you card in fall colors. I love the background paper. The stamped image is from Stampin' Up! And I added a row of rhinestones to each edge.
And finally this card looks much better in real life. The entire center is also crimped in a different direction but it doesn't show up in the picture. I'll try to take a photo of it tomorrow and replace the scan. This is an anniversary card for my sister. I used Lee Conrey's technique for crimping the background and decorated with punched Stampin' Seaves in fall colors. I love the way this one turned out.
I used my butterfly background paper. Gave it a pretty pink flower with a button center and stamped "wish" on the front. I know my Girl Scout leaders are wishing for a great new year! And I've added three rhinestones in the corner. I guess you're wondering where the Cuttlebug comes in here. Well, it's in my pages of the album.

The red one is difficult to tell in the picture but is from my square nestabilities. And the yellow is one of my new embossing folders. (I just got 11 new folders for my birthday last week and I can't remember their names. Ugh!)
But don't you just love that mouse? He is the cutest! I got the image from a friend I visited in May (Hi Valerie!) And she stamped a bunch of images for me while I was visiting. The cupcakes are from a Sweet and Sassy stamp set. I think the name is Chocoholic. I pop dotted the cupcakes on three different colors of cardstock. The background paper is actually embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder but it's difficult to see in the scan. I added the ribbon to break it up a little bit. The sentiment is from Elegant Flowers from Gina K Designs.
And the last shot shows the side of the box. I was surprised how large it actually was. I used Velcro for the closure. If I was giving this as a gift I think I would have added a handle too.
